Forums - Nintendo - Why people hated Skyward Sword?

I'd actually say it's my favourite Zelda now. It has flaws, but when you go back and replay some of the older ones, those weren't flawless either.

SS's biggest flaw, in my opinion, was the sky part. It's empty and tedious to travel.

But the overall structure of the game, the combat, the variety, the level design were all mindblowingly good. No other game compares. It blurred the line between overworld and dungeon, and the "overworld" areas were multilayered and reused in a way that made you really feel like you really know the place. My favourite parts were always the ones leading up to the dungeons.

I think many didn't have the patience to sit through the slightly slow opening hours. But the bad sales mean that most people didn't even try it, and that's so sad because they have no idea what they're missing.

I consider Skyward Sword as the best Zelda game ever. I absolutely loved it.

Don't say that "people hated" Skyward Sword. Most of the players loved it.

I liked Skyward Sword, it was a vast improvement over Windwanker and Twilight Princess, but not nearly as good as Majora's Mask or Ocarina of Time.

Skyward Sword's largest problem was the fact that the controls needed to be re-calibrated during gameplay. This was one of the most irritating things in the history of the series.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I liked it a lot but flying from island to island caused me to have narcolepsy.

It slowly starts. The beginning doesn't feel much like a Zelda. When I started it I thought I played an N64 game, the visuals really are not my thing and details suck even for Wii standards.
Played like an hour and never put it in again since then. I know it is supposed to become better.

Because it's the latest game in The Legend of Zelda franchise.

i liked it more then twilight princess thats for sure

It was quite good when you got used to it. The wiimote kept going off centre which was annoying.

I wanted to love SS but the Wii motion controls just did me in. The few hours I played I really loved SS, but then Skyrim happened and SS which was going to be a fantastic RPG (except for the controls) took an arrow to the knee.

So here's wishing and hoping for a SS HD remake with no motion controls for the Wii U, for motion controlled challenged gamers like me.

I love My Wii U, and the potential it brings to gaming.

I'm torn over Skyward Sword. It certainly had the potential to be the very best Zelda game, but it took a few wrong turns along the way.

The art direction, music, and motion controls are are excellent. In fact the motion controls are the best I've ever used -- they really deliver on the promise Nintendo made in 2006 when Wii launched.

But I got the sense throughout the game that the developers were a little confused about which Zelda traditions to keep and which to discard. And the result is a game that's a little awkward: huge but linear, complicated mechanically but simple visually, etc.
