I hated DKCR, it lacked all of the DKC charm and feel imo.

Mainly down to graphical style choices.

Too much low detail 3D textures, they should have lowered the resolution and upped the texture detail and effects.

I think you're overlooking the biggest flaw. The music.
The SNES games had amazing music and if any Wii game should have orchestrated soundtrack to do the series' legacy justice, it's DKCR.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Hello! Did It Work??

:/

I could have sworn it worked for me in my early testing on the wiiu. I'll have to try again later out of curiousity.

Well it's not like it's the best selling game they ever made or something.....

Anyways OP, have you played the SNES games? If not, then do and then come back and we'll have a talk about the game design.

DK was soooo much harder o the SNES, I used to cry when i had to start all over!!!

I'm 31. So yes, i played a lot of difficult NES games.

Most of those NES games i could forgive because the industry was young (and me). Getting a good balance of controls and challenge was still difficult. Nintendo did those thing mostly right. Others did not (kuch... Turtles).

And when the SNES came along, games were far better. That balance of controls and challenge improved on many levels. It made things far more enjoyable for a gamer.

With each newer console, that mix improved even more.

That's actually the reason why those Cave levels are now really bad. Retro has no excuse to make such aggravating levels. They are ruining the enjoyment of the game. For no point.

In the wilderness we go alone with our new knowledge and strength.

wait til you get to the lava world ^.^ i never had a ton of problems (obviously i died a lot but i never got stuck) until the lava world...loved every second though :D

What I meant was the SNES DKC games :P

I LOVE ICELAND!

To clarify, with "they" I mean Retro, not Nintendo.

i'll take it you are too young to have owned a NES or SNES...

i can't claim to have played DKC on the wii but ...the challenge of old school games is something i think current generation games miss and the reason i still like playing the original DKC or mario world or super metroid or really snes games in general.   in a lot of ways those were better times.

I'm 30 and I can't wait for Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 - with Diddy and Dixie - for Wii U.

I loved the game! It was hard and I never beat it but will when I have the time. I don't want Retro to do another DK game simple because I want them to do another Metroid!
