This week, due to GTA IV crossing the 10m mark, the 360 has overtaken the PS2 as it now has 6 10m sellers, compared to the PS2's 5 10m sellers.

You can't really compare when VGC never tracked PS2 sales... VGC started to track sales after 360/PS3/Wii launch.

san andreas was crazy! over 20m on one console alone. another interesting thing is, take out kinect adventures and GT3 sold more than any current game on xbox 360, including MONSTERS like call of duty! very impressive for a racing game.

You can downplay the fact that it has more 10million sellers, but there is no denying it. Playstatiom 3 is going to pass it as well. Simple explanation though, CoD selling 10mil+ each year on both consoles. Though the 360 has a small chance of passing the PS2 without Call of Duty if Halo Reach, Halo 4, and Grand Theft Auto V end up passing 10mil.

 

Anyway seems quite possible that the 360 will end up with 11 10million sellers. Minimum 8(Black Ops II and next call of duty), with a reasonable chance that Halo 4, Halo: Reach, and Grand Theft Auto V all pass 10mil.

theres been like 6-7 call of dutys already so far, thats why. PS2 only got 3 main GTA games. games also seem to sell more these days than in the past.

Well MGS2 sold over 7 million units... VGC shows little over 6 million... and Final Fantasy X sold over 6.6 million but no way near 8 million... San Andreas sold over 17 million but not over 20 million... GT3 sales is on spot at least but PD shows the sales so it's easy.

I'm just saying the PS2 sales in VGC is not accurate because the site just started to track sales after 2007.

To be fair MW3(360) is going to pass GT3, and its going to do so despite being multiplatform on a much worse selling system and without being very heavily bundled. Gran Turismo sales are no doubt among the best in the business, but the only games that can even be compared to CoD in terms of sales are 2d Mario games, Wii series games, and the pokemon games of the gameboy/gameboyadvance days.

Thats because the PS3/360 is split off of the PS2 crowd. GTA V's sales will be the same on both consoles.

Ya but what I'm saying is there is no ps2 game that anyone would argue should be past 10mil but isn't. So his thread claim is correct, despite many ps2 games being undertracked.
