The Monster Hunter HD bundle was the bundle I was most surprised to see on the shelf 10 hours after the store opened on Saturday.

I also went to an independent store in Kyoto today (10/9) one day after launch. This would be a sizeable videogame store in America. Their Nintendo room is bigger than most Gamestops and has an enormous selection of DS/3DS/Wii games.

They also had systems in stock of a couple of different configurations. What is interesting is that the TV running Wii videos is a 4:3 tube TV. Even their 3DS TV display is a big HDTV. This is probably a temporary set up. What is also interesting is that the big gamepad-shaped, cradboard Marquee sent out by Nintendo that surrounds the TV actually has popouts for 4:3 or 16:9 TVs. Maybe it was the only TV they had that fit the marquee.

I actually think it crossed the 1 million mark yesterday ^^

But you can't compare it to Wii, that shit was a beast! But, yeah... I've read up on the subject and even xbox360 sold like 300k in Europe... Wii U bombed =/

Haha pretty funny video! But I disagree to an extent. Zelda TP is something every Zelda fan has wanted since OoT... And that's really reflected by its sales. Combining GC and Wii sales its the best selling Zelda to date.

I keep hearing that about TP. I guess many people just see the art style and atmosphere and immediatly make the mental connections to Ocarina but other than that TP is VERY different. In Ocarina, for once, items were a lot more combat oriented and made you feel more powerful, like the ice arrow and Din's fire or Nayuru's love. In TP, items were just a key that fit into certain puzzle locks mostly only in the dungeon where the items were found. Ocarina also had harder (and more fun) combat and bosses, it's overworld wasn't as linear, etc.

Hard to tell atm but one thing i am certain on is that the WiiU will not be nearly as successful as the Wii was.

Aaaaand this is why I hate* the Internet: make sweeping conclusions based on limited, anecdotal, or imaginary data.

*The 'good' news is this is hardly limited to the gaming sphere, see: everything else on the Internet.

In Japan, actually I don't think it's impossible. The Wii was big in Japan for it's two years or so, but really declined after 2008 big time. 

Wii U with it's Japan-friendly quasi-portable nature of the console probably fits the Japanese household best and could do well there. Then again I could be wrong entirely.
