Anyone know what NPD had the Wii at in Nov 2006 for reference purposes?

  • Nintendo DS -- 918K
  • PS2 -- 664K
  • GBA -- 641K
  • Xbox 360 -- 511K (3.4 million units LTD)
  • Wii -- 476K
  • PS3 -- 197K
  • PSP -- 412K
  • http://vgsales.wikia.com/wiki/NPD_November_2006
  • Thanks for that (Ethomaz as well). Interesting how that was less than the 600k FW mentioned earlier.

If I remember the 600k is the first 8 days for all America... not US Only.

Edit - Confirmed... 600k is Americas and 476k is US.

If Wii U numbers are good or not, depends on how many units Nintendo sent to stores.

3DS numbers are more weird than surprising for me. Americans never showed the same interest for 3DS than they did for the DS. It's worth citing that 3DS line up has nothing like SM3D land this year.

BTW, expecting sales to be down by 30~40% compared to last year's BF.

We had a thread laying around here where we predicted the holiday sales for all of the platforms. I remember saying that the Wii would do great numbers at $100 and that the 360 and PS3 would still outsell it (since that's the case for every hardware launch, ever). Anybody know where that thread is?

Took me a min to find it but I remembered being offered to participate in it.  I should have but never got around to doing it.

That pre-release Nintendo PR makes me think a little...

We have said that we’ll have more Wii U units on store shelves in week one than we did for Wii in 2006. (...) Having said that, though, we’re guessing there could be shortages. It won’t be there every day. Shipments coming in each week could sell very quickly.

More shipped units plus sold out = less sales !?

Maybe that was a bit mean

    now thats lies.

Youre worse than Turkish and ethomaz. You really are obsessed

No kidding.  Every thread somehow morphs into an anti-Sony thread.

Look on the bright side. It took a whole 9 pages.

A while back it would have started from the second or third post.

Just posting that here for future reference.

This is mainly because PS360 channels are stuffed but launch consoles tend to be supply constrained.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Btw the Wii managed 460k in the US FW, and it was similar to this week (BF week). And considering the Wii had more hype back then, 400k is not a bad number. We must know how big the shipment was before we judge, but 400k is nothing to sniff at, consoles hit their peak 2-3 years later (in 360 and PS3's cases even more) unlike phones and tablets which have an initial strong week and month. I'm not justifying the number, just putting things in persepective, too early to call anything yet, let's see what happens in December.

That said, 3DS numbers are horrific. I know they're saying it's ahead of the DS, but I can't see anything that will help it this holiday season unless the price cut rumor is true.

100% agreed, I think this is the best analysis here regarding the subject specially when you talk about phones/tablets. I've been seeing more and more people having sales expectation for videogames as they were phones or tablets and they couldn't be more wrong! Each year there is a new iPhone model, so people will be always rushing to get the newer one as soon as it releases (hopefully it won't take any longer until they realize how stupid that is).

VGChartz desperately needs more people like you! Not kidding.
