Bad numbers. Especially 3DS.

Black Friday week 2011: 495,944
Black Friday week 2012: 250,000

OUCH.

Oh and the DS sold 275k. I can't help but think there is consumer confusion out there.

Wii U sales are DECENT. Not surprising it didn't match Wii sales. Next week it should have a sharp drop. These week 1 sales have months and months of pre-orders. So from 400k, I expect next week sales to be about 200k. Give or take.

says the boy who worships the Playstation brand!!!  I wonder how your Vita sales are gonna be?

I don't worhsip anything. How will Vita sales be? Hopefully around the 100k mark.

So in short, you mean below the 3DS or DS.   Thank you that's all.

Of course. But Vita doesn't need to outsell those to be successful.

Hummmm... if Vita sold more than 250k I think VGC will explode with threads lol.

I think that's possible with the $179 Vita bunble sold out in every place.

Definitely possible. I bought one on Amazon; the deal was just too good to pass up, even if the software library isn't robust.

But I want to reiterate -- and this isn't directed at you ethomaz -- that 3DS is going to be just fine. I think everyone is making too big a deal out of one week.

We'll see in 6 months or so if that purchase was a good one or not; as we will get a bigger picture of the Vita's future.  Sadly, I am not optimistic.

I'm not very optimistic either. But that's one of the reasons I bought a Vita. I want it to do well, and it needs hardware sales to do well.

I'm baffled by those claiming there are no supply issues. I was trading in some games at a local game store on Saturday when my transaction was interrupted by a call to the store:

"No, we don't have any Wii U in stock. When will we have some? I dunno, maybe the new year."

WalMart, Future Shop, Best Buy online stores all say sold out. Future Shop and Best Buy web sites confirm their local retail stores are also sold out, but tell me I can find some if I'm willing to drive over a province or two.

Maybe your neck of the woods has plenty, but that doesn't mean there aren't sellouts elsewhere, and selling out at any retailer constrains how many consoles Nintendo can sell this holiday.

I just checked all major online stores here in Sweden and all Wii U versions were sold out everywhere, so I wouldn't be surprised one bit if what you (and Reggie) are saying is true.

I'd say those are among the major online stores, but as I am not a swede I can't be certain. Komplett shows 100+ stock on Wii U premium preorders, others show that you can preorder those consoles.

Oh, did not notice. Webhallen shows that Wii U premium is out of preorders.

3DS numbers have no defense, though... pretty bad.

I couldn't find official Nintendo data that could confirm those 495k VG Chartz had for last last, but evenif VGChartz is wrong, it's still going to be way higher than this year.

And that's bad. Push the price cut button, Reggie

No, he should push the fucking localisation button. Animal Crossing not being here for Christmas is a fucking tragedy. I'm not even remotely interested in this game but wow, did they drop the ball here.

Can we stop with the fanboy bullshit for once?

Wii U sales are 'ok to good'

Wii and DS sales are 'amazing under the circumstances'

3DS 'tanked at BF'

Edit: Vita prediction: 150k. I had the amazon bundle in my basket but pussied out eventually since I didn't want to go through the trouble to sell my black vita just for a new color and PSABR.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Gamestop.com availability:

http://www.gamestop.com/browse/consoles?nav=16k-wii+u,13ffff2412

If gamestop truly has a backlog, why not ship consoles available online to stores?

Because most people want the deluxe and as you can see in the link you provided it's still backordered.

That change seems recent because there was no back order when i first posted early this morning.

Did you actually try adding it to the cart earlier?  They often don't have it clearly listed like they do now until you take that step.

In any case, even if they were available they went quick.

Great Wii family sales. Not so good 3DS sales, but Japan will always keep it strong with that great software.

This is why Pokemon should've continued on the 3DS.

Yes, I'm still angry about that.

Not sure what to make of these numbers.

WiiU sold better than Wii on Black Friday in both 2006 and 2007 - but Wii was severely stock challenged. In following years Wii sold more but that's not really a fair comparison as there probably weren't enough WiiUs in existance to outsell Wii in it's prime.

Telling is the 'dead' 6 year old Wii sold 75% of what WiiU sold. Great result for Wii. Not so sure about WiiU.

3DS is in a heap of trouble if it was outsold by it's little brother. No shortage excuse there.

Why did you meam? Wii sold 479k in Black Friday in 2006.

Do you have a link/source for that?  The only one I could find put it around 250k, - but Wii and PS3 were outsold by 360 but that was largely attributed to short supply of both consoles.    Similar result in 2007 I think Wii sold 350 that year - according to VGChartz - but you know how reliable they are...

What do you consider the Vita to sell to be successful? 100k? It needs PSP market share level to be even relevant.

Wal-Marts pushed the DS over the edge. We had over 100+ DSIXLs for $99. 3DS was not on sale at all.

It's just that simple.

LOL, Vita is a disaster all around, the goal posts have to be moved so far back to define whatever it is that defines "success" now.

3DS sales are bad, no wonder Nintendo dropped the price.

I think the launch of the iPad mini this year has hurt handhelds in North America, the mini tablets are really going to be popular with younger kids, which is mostly where the market for the 3DS/Vita has left. Adults are done with dedicated handhelds outside of a small niche.

Wii U stock does seem to be tight, but I think this time Nintendo shipped about right on to where demand was. Wii in 2006 ... they easily could've sold double what they shipped. GameCube sold 660k or whatever in November 2001 (launch), I don't think Wii U will match that.
