LOL, Vita is a disaster all around, the goal posts have to be moved so far back to define whatever it is that defines "success" now.
3DS sales are bad, no wonder Nintendo dropped the price.
I think the launch of the iPad mini this year has hurt handhelds in North America, the mini tablets are really going to be popular with younger kids, which is mostly where the market for the 3DS/Vita has left. Adults are done with dedicated handhelds outside of a small niche.
Wii U stock does seem to be tight, but I think this time Nintendo shipped about right on to where demand was. Wii in 2006 ... they easily could've sold double what they shipped. GameCube sold 660k or whatever in November 2001 (launch), I don't think Wii U will match that.
