WiiU sold better than Wii on Black Friday in both 2006 and 2007 - but Wii was severely stock challenged. In following years Wii sold more but that's not really a fair comparison as there probably weren't enough WiiUs in existance to outsell Wii in it's prime.

Telling is the 'dead' 6 year old Wii sold 75% of what WiiU sold. Great result for Wii. Not so sure about WiiU.

3DS is in a heap of trouble if it was outsold by it's little brother. No shortage excuse there.

Why did you meam? Wii sold 479k in Black Friday in 2006.

Hmm, I'd say not bad foe WiiU, if the shipment is in that amount, 3DS is a bit of a downer, but that's what you get if the DS is cheaper and not enough games out for the 3DS.

Bad numbers. Especially 3DS.

Black Friday week 2011: 495,944
Black Friday week 2012: 250,000

OUCH.

Oh and the DS sold 275k. I can't help but think there is consumer confusion out there.

Wii U sales are DECENT. Not surprising it didn't match Wii sales. Next week it should have a sharp drop. These week 1 sales have months and months of pre-orders. So from 400k, I expect next week sales to be about 200k. Give or take.

I'm baffled by those claiming there are no supply issues. I was trading in some games at a local game store on Saturday when my transaction was interrupted by a call to the store:

"No, we don't have any Wii U in stock. When will we have some? I dunno, maybe the new year."

WalMart, Future Shop, Best Buy online stores all say sold out. Future Shop and Best Buy web sites confirm their local retail stores are also sold out, but tell me I can find some if I'm willing to drive over a province or two.

Maybe your neck of the woods has plenty, but that doesn't mean there aren't sellouts elsewhere, and selling out at any retailer constrains how many consoles Nintendo can sell this holiday.

As someone earlier stated you can't sell what isn't there.

Regarding the 3DS I see no reason for concern. Reggie made it clear that stores have been knocking out the DS at bargain basement prices, or as he put it "significant deals".

You don't expect people to turn up their noses at such a bargain, do you?

Come the end of the year the picture will be much clearer.

It's not sold out though, demand was lower than the original Wii, and Nintendo had enough stock to at least match that of the first Wii.(probably more)

We've seen people posts about how they've seen Wii U's on store shelves. I know I have. It's not sold out, this is just Reggie doing his PR speak.

I just checked all major online stores here in Sweden and all Wii U versions were sold out everywhere, so I wouldn't be surprised one bit if what you (and Reggie) are saying is true.

Nope.

The NPD tracks always util the last saturday of the month...  for November it is 4 weeks.

NPD Nov 2012:  28th Oct to 24th Nov
NPD Nov 2006: 29th Oct to 25th Nov

So 8 days for each console.

PS. The NPD December is 5 weeks... so 29th Nov to 30th Dec this year.

Edit - I just checked the GAF to know if I give you the right date...

NPD Coverage: September 30-October 27 (4 weeks, September was 5 weeks)

So the NPD October ends in 27th... 28th is already November plus 4 weeks... so 24th is the end of NPD November.
