Well, we've heard about how the only games that sell on Nintendo systems are Nintendo games and how the only games that sell on Sony systems are Sony games. Let's do a comparison to see how well 3rd party games have actually fared on each platform.

Data is as of November 17th.

3DS: 54.26 million software sales from 198 titles, of which 30.64 million are Nintendo software, from 27 titles. Total 3rd party sales: 23.62 million spread over 171 titles, for about 0.14 million sales per game.

Vita: 6.88 million software sales from 68 titles, of which 2.43 million are Sony software, from 13 titles. Total 3rd party sales: 4.45 million spread over 55 titles, for an average of about 0.08 million sales per game.

I already know that people are going to start talking about the fact that we need to wait until the Vita sells more to come to a conclusion, and that the 3DS userbase is much larger, etc. etc. but still, 3rd parties aren't doing that bad on the 3DS.

Vita totally crushed FIFA on 3ds.

So, in about a year and a half, only 1 3rd party 3DS game has sold over a million, and only 8 have hit 500K? That's pretty bad, even if the Vita is worse.

It's weird though, it really looks as if 3rd party games are doing rather poorly on both consoles (except MH3G), or is it me expecting too much sales wise?

To be fair, #1 and #3 are both Japan-only sales.  Also, it's a year and a half after launch, and not all of those games actually have been out for that period of time.  If we also compare games that sold over 1m on other platforms, there wont ACTUALLY be that many.

Both are pretty abysmal. And most of those 3rd party 3DS are post price cut and redesign and with Vita high barrier (price, memory cards) im surprised its even 80k per 3rd party title.

Is DQM going to come out in the US/Europe?  If so, it probably won't do much here.  Monste hunter might to a bit more.

Too lazy to look back at the launch year and a half for other consoles, but I feel like it would be more.  Could be wrong though.
