They will have to, if this gen has proven one thing it’s that cheap and badly made consoles do sell.

I chose the first option, because that is what they would say publicly. However privately they would be disappointed. The thing about the caliber of brand loyalists that you encounter on forums such as these. Is that they trade in only one currency, and that currency is bragging rights. Every time they lose a talking point that they can spin into some extravagant narrative about how their console is the best. They get frustrated, but not in the least deterred. You can see it in this thread.

How many responses have there been in this thread where the poster said that it wouldn't bother them, because Sony would still be the best, because it would still have this or that. They just won't even acknowledge any kind of deficit, and they didn't even do it early in this generation. When PS3 games did look much worse then 360 games for quite some time. We just got lists upon lists of excuses.

As long as the great exclusives keep coming and all the third party developers make games for the PS4 then I won't mind.

It really depends on the difference. If it is anything like this generation then good art and good design will always stand out. On the other hand if the difference is significant then some people will want the console with the more powerful hardware as you're likely paying the same amount for games regardless.

maybe you were easily impressionable at that age, golden eye 64, TLZ Ocarina of time, Turok 1,2 and 3 and Perfect Dark blow away the posibilitys of the ps1, back in the day that games were only possible in the  powerfull N64.

My post answers the question. If the PS4 is not the strongest, then Sony fans of the PS4 era will act like Sony fans of the PS1/PS2 era. Whoever has the strongest console will be the ones bragging. Sony fans would naturally have to stop bragging about graphics ala PS1/PS2 era. Deep down inside, will they care? Maybe, but only mildly and temporarily. But if they are truly Sony fans, then they would eventually recognize that it's the best decision. Some may be extremely upset, but those would be graphic fans rather than Sony fans.

As for the rest of your post, I honestly cannot understand a single sentence of what you typed. 

Well on Steam they say, the PC masterrace's numbers grew 3 sizes that day.

Didn't play most of those games, like I said back then I had both consoles but my parents bought my games, so my library was pretty small.

I just remember having a lot of fun with the PS1. Tony Hawk, Lego Racers...etc. These are the games I remember the most since they were the most fun.

I do however remember playing Mortal Kombat 4 on the N64, also games like Super Mario 64 and Donkey Kong 64. 

Looking back it now though, PS1 was the better system. Had the better control, better games..etc. Back then I didn't know about tech specs, but I do now. 

Both PS1 and N64 were comparable in power, both had their strenghts and weaknesses.  To say the PS1 was weak is an exaggeration. It was far from it. 

The PS2's initial sales dropped market price of DVD players. The PS3 did the same for Blu Ray.
