so it's true what everyone says? Next Gen won't be a huge leap above this one...

Unknown. But personally, I'd be very surprised if the Ps4/720 are massive upgrades.

Not this again.......

They will be. There would be no point in releasing a console that doesn't offer a significant increase in power/performance/functionality over current gen.

So? Let him say what he wants. If you're so sure, what do you care? >.>

Sorry Nintendo, you are 7 years late. You should have be saying this on 2005, not now.

Obviously. I mean, why would Nintendo want to sell almost 100 million consoles when they could have just had another Gamecube situation...

Still though, lightning wont strike twice. Alot of hardcore gamers were surprised by the lack of third party support ( minus Ubisoft with the rabbids series) and having basically ports of 360/PS3 games with no true effort whatsoever. Nintendo alienated alot of people last gen, which is why any game without Mario or Zelda or Wii in the title basically bombed out the gate. It's gonna be a hard road for them.

This is how I feel about Reggie...

I thought this was gonna be an announcement for "Nintendo All Stars Battle Royale" after I saw the title.

Wow just think about it, a game like PS All stars battle royale but with nintendo characters, it could be interesting.

Nintendo clearly hasn't enough mascots to pull it off. Also I would rather see Nintendo do something new and exciting instead of copying franchises from their competitors. What's next, they copy Little Big Planet Karting?

This is funnier than expected.

Haha yeah, or maybe copying Playstation Move. I can't really see Nintendo having any success with motion controls XD!!!

Or maybe they try and copy something like Singstar. Ha like we'll ever see...

......oh.

;P

Nexthing you know, they'll make a game where a lone space soldier battles hordes of aliens on an exotic planet.  Or make characters (let's call them 'Avatars') who live on your console and represent you.

My sarcasm detector went kind of haywire here as well..

i hope nintendo would copy a 3d game  that stomps on enemies... like crash bandicoot.. and if they are success they could have their own racing game like crash team racing...

okay my sarcasm detector seems to be working again but actually crash kills his enemies with a spin attack and it's SOMETIMES optional to stomp on enemies

:)

Imagine that. Maybe they could give Mario some kind of cape or something that he can spin to beat enemies.

This thread is full of win.

.. And if it was the dominate way of killing his enemies maybe ;)

While you guys are debating whether its next gen or not, ninty fans like myself are busy enjoying the crap out of there new system. Playing CoD with just a WiiU Pro controller and the gamepad is awesome. Playing any where in the apartment is so fun. This is the most portable home console i have ever played.

Of course Reggie MUST take this stance as anything else would damage the brand.

However if that's how he's going to define 'next gen' then I submit the next gen started with the launch of the iPad for similar reasons. It revolutionized gaming FAR more than WiiU will and WiiU is behind it in many ways still.

Tech-wise WiiU is very much this gen. Sequence-wise it's the start of the next gen.

If the Wii U community purchases over 2 million in COD sales its a milestone, I say. The true COD communities are on the 360 and PS3.

Yep it's the start of a new generation. That is true. But it's not the next level in gaming technology, we will have to wait at least a year for that. As for Wii U, I'll get one when the next main series Mario, Zelda, or Metroid hit.

It has a main series Mario and this is 'next level in gaming'. Its not solely about how many pixels are on the screen.

I enjoy the NSMB games, but I have plenty of them. What I want is a successor to the Galaxy games. That or a Zelda or Metroid game.

The Wii U is Nintendo's 'next level in gaming', but when the next system all can run advanced AI, physics, simulations, etc, we will have the true advancement in gaming tech that we expect from a generational leap.

HOW advanced

HOW true

We need actual numbers to fuel this debate. Look at how recent threads make comparisons between screenshots and the glyphs written on things, and understand why posts such as yours are merely speculative and not at all not helpful.

For those of you with "posts per page" set to 50 - WELCOME TO PAGE TWO!

First I'll answer your first two "questions".

"HOW advanced"

More advanced than the Wii U.

"HOW true"

Truely more advanced than this generaions, not just an incrimental upgrade like the Wii U.

As for your critique of my posts. Yes I am speculating. What's wrong with that? The begining of a console generation is only fun because of the speculation.

Can you quantify these increments? For the sake of fun.

I've seen nothing on the Wii U that can't be done on the current gen. Nothing is running in 1080p with an impressive display of tons of polygon,  shaders and other crazy cool stuff. ZombieU, for example, isn't a port like BLOPS2 or Batman AC, so it isn't held back by a curret gen lead platform, yet it still doesn't impress visualy or technicaly. It is a decent looking game that could easily run on PS360 with little downgrade if any.

I don't expect developers to both pushing the Wii U beyond the marginal when they know the MS and Sony machines will give them everything they'll want without having to work hard to get it. Devs don't like pushing hardware beyond it's bounds, they do it at the end of a generation when they have to.

So for the sake of fun, can you honestly say that you expect the Wii U to compete bit for bit with the Nextbox and PS4?

So when you say compete bit for bit, which part are you refering to? Power-wise, I don't think so at all, but I already knew that before I even got a Wii U, it's not like the next xbox or orbis will be more powerful than my PC lol. If you are talking about sales wise though, I look at Gravity Rush, .25m WW, then I look at Nintendogs+Cats, 2.53m WW.............. o_O; Generation is not defined by power, or consoles would always be 1-2 gens behind by the master race ya know?

All depends on the price they are aiming for and what comes in the package, there is a good reason why I didn't get the PS3 on launch and that's because I could build a more powerful computer for 600 bucks in 2006.

1. I'm was obviously talking about power.

2. This is a console discussion, PC has nothing to do with.

3. I wasn't talking about sales.

4. PC and PC fans have nothing to do with this discussion.
