Forums - Microsoft - Halo 4 below Reach and Halo 3 1st week in the UK.

Recently bought a Xbox 360 and have to say that although I'm not a big fan of first person shooters. I have rather enjoyed Halo 4 more than I would of thought (Played 10 hours) I don't see why the franchise is so over hyped though. However, I haven't played the other entries so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I enjoy more 3rd person shooters like Mass Effect :) Nevertheless, congrats to Halo and its success :D

It's not really that lower btw

Relatively speaking it is significantly lower.

AAA game sales have increasingly become more front-loaded by every year. Pre-order and first week numbers have increasingly become inflated and don't correlate to projected lifetime sales in the same way they did for older games.

First week sales of 340K in 2013 means much less lifetimes sales than 360k did in 2007.

Halo 4 has 0 chance to pass 10 million now.

Right. You don't know this. But even if its true, so what? You are becoming a bit frantic in your rabid pursuit of downplay and negativity. You ok?

I'd have thought you would have been more concerned with vita selling 45k TOTAL software for the whole of October in the UK. After all you are a PS fan now.

We're the same, you and me. We're the same, don't you see?

You downplay everything Sony and scan for news that are negative for Sony. Nothing wrong with that.

I do the same for MS. Nothing wrong with that.

Btw, I don't like the Vita. I agree with you it's a big flop and I too put emphasis on everything that is negative about the Vita.

Confirmed now that Halo 4 sold the most and made the most money in Halo history first week.

My thread has been destroyed :c

Being launched between AC3 and Black Ops 2 may have caused that. But this game was clearly the least anticipated by fans and the press among Halo 3 and Reach.

Excuses. Excuses.

This game was masively hyped and it had the biggest marketing campaign ever. People are getting tired of Halo or they are saving their money for Call of Duty.(at least in the UK)

Spending huge amounts of money in marketing , just makes people aware that a game is coming.   Convincing them to buy it is another story.

No. Thread is about the UK, ypure talking WW sales (USA).

Basically, Halo is stronger than ever in America but dropping outside of America.

Most likely scenario is that Halo suffered with Black Ops II round the corner. Halo 4 is much better than Reach, its a shame UK didn't feel the same way.

Lets not jump to conclusions. All we know is that the series is declining (albeit marginally) in the UK.

. I mean seriously 40k units guys? Way to overhype this crap. They will make up those sales via word of mouth and the fact that It's Halo 4, a numbered title in the series. It will outsell Reach in the long run, maybe not Halo 3 but MS will be profiting fo sho.

Unlikely. Legs will be cut short by a new Xbox and increasing competition from Call of Duty, Battlefield...etc.

Halo isn't the biggest FPS out there anymore, and it shows.

The new XBox won't be out for another year, that's plenty of time for Halo 4 to sell well.

Halo hasn't been the biggest fps since Modern Warfare 2. It's the second biggest FPS behind COD. That's old news.

I think it's on its way to 3rd.
Battlefield franchise exploded with Battlefield 3. Battlefield 4 will establish it as the 2nd biggest FPS in the world.

More like 5th place. Again to reiterate, Halo never outsold either Half-Life nor Counter-Strike. Halo was never the most popular FPS series. Now-a-days I guess it looks like:

1. Call of Duty

2. Battlefield

3. Counter-Strike

4. Half-Life

5. Halo

Personally, I'm shocked to see another FPS surpassing the popularity of Counter-Strike. Mentioning which, I wonder when Valve will announce that CS 1.6 has reached the 20 million milestone?
