Forums - Nintendo - One last time before The Wii U launch! Pachter: Wii U A New Console Using Last-Gen Technology

I keep trying to ignore Pachter, but it's so damn difficult.

His prognostications are most often wrong, and sometime catastrophically wrong -- his seventh generation and World of Warcraft predictions being the most egregious.

Basically, his recommendation is that Nintendo folds up shop as a hardware developer, i.e., stops being Nintendo as we know it. It's a terrible idea from a man I'm convinced is trolling us all.

Pachter said that Nintendo, “Should not have made a new console on last generation technology.”

It worked so bad last time...

Why is this guy everywhere? His predictions are almost always wrong. Someday I'm going to find his face in a cereal box...

That's what he gets pay for pretty much to troll people. People fall for it too easy.

I feel the same way.

from a gamer standpoint pachter is not wrong but from a more open gaming world he is.

Digitalfoundry will probably do it.

APM loves this word. But he will never see this post. Yeah he is horrible, but is he right?

Well, I'll say this. He's right that the Wii won't be as successful as the Wii. But I'd be surprised if any console is ever as successful as the Wii was, and I'm not just talking about units sold.

But he's wrong when he implies that competition for the Wii U will come in the form of space-age technology. I'd be shocked if PS4 and Xbox 720 (or whatever they end up being called) are much more sophisticated than the Wii U. But even if they are, Wii U won't crash and burn just because of older tech.

And he's dead wrong about Nintendo licensing its IPs. That would be the beginning of the end for Nintendo. But maybe that's what he wants?

I have never used that word in my life.
