Not innovative enough for it sell the system on its own. I think its apples and oranges when comparing it to 2004's DS, better yet the DS was not a big success until it recieved games like nintendogs and brain training. Those same titles no longer carry any weight in the industry. Do you personally think the Wii U's pad is going to appeal to the casual gamers, and do you not think that its lack of power will limit its appeal to the more core audience?

There are a few points he made though. I agree that the tablet is nowhere near as innovative as motion controls six years back. In fact it's quite the opposite since touch based technology is overdone. But I do think the tablet might turn out to be intuitive to the general audience if used correctly. May not be as intuitive as motion though.

As for the comment on Wii U running on last gen technology, we'll just have to wait until the console launches and someone tears it apart. Also I don't see why Nintendo can't release its GB/GBC/GBA game catalogue on Android/IOS as Pachter said. I know tons of people who use emulators, but releasing these games would make them obscene amounts of money and generate interest for newer entries on their current handhelds. Sony does it with their Playstation Suite.

Pachter is that kid that nobody liked in school that grew up and found a job where he can vocalize his bitterness to spite those of school age as a means to make himself feel better.

Actually, I think he was just a retail analyst that gave a few opinions many years ago about the video game industry and our video game media freaked the fuck out because some adult with a couple of degrees on his wall was paying attention to us. Didn't matter what he was saying (because he was wrong even then), it just made us feel like our industry was finally important.

So he's been 'in demand' every since....and still wrong.

I'm comparing the control scheme of the Wii U with the DS to dismantle his "Wii U's control scheme isn't intuitive" argument, nothing more. But if you want to talk about 2004, the Wii U is getting the sequel of a 26M seller on day 1, unlike the DS. If that can't sell systems I don't know what can.

Games sell systems, not power. The most powerful console never won a gen. Those core gamers bought the PS1 and the PS2 despite being less powerful than the competition.

The WiiU is not last gen technology, is modern tech with low power, very different thing

Except for the SNES and don't even bring the Jaguar, Neo Geo or CDi those were never real competition like the Genesis was.

The Genesis had a more powerful CPU but the SNES had a more capable graphics subsystem.

I think we can all agree SNES was superior, its games looked and sounded better.
