I hope the system breaks all kinds of sale records, just to stick to him.

Serious question... did he get anything right? If yes what?
who is he working for?
Switch!!!
My parents bought a Wii. I think the last system they even played was Atari 2600. They rarely play their Wii these days. There was a time when they would have their friends over and they would all play Wii Sports or whatever, but that was years ago now. They played with my Kinect a couple of Christmases ago and enjoyed it, but not enough to go out and buy it.
They would NEVER buy a Wii U. The benefit or even a distinction from the Wii just isn't there for them. In this sense, I agree with Pachter.
I also think it was a mistake to have the system look so similar to the Wii. Looking at the commercial, I think the average person would be confused about the Wii U. Is it just a controller I buy for my Wii? Is it a handheld system? etc.
Pachter predicts WiiU failure.
That's most likely the strongest indicator so far of the WiiU's eventual success.
Pachter when he runs one way, you better run the other.
This is the Game of Thrones
Where you either win
or you DIE
Let's test Pachter theory
Wii U will sell to Nintendo Hardcore fans only
I have played maybe 2-3 Wii games in the last 1 year and completed only 1 of them (specifically Zelda Skyward Sword). My kids still play Dora and Wii Sports and other such games on Wii (they are 4 year old girls).
I think I have played 5-10 X360 games in the last 1 year and completed most of them where they had campaign. Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas, Gears of War 1-3, NFS Hot Pursuit, Halo games, and some Kinect games.
For my PS3, I think I have 200+ games on my www.psnprofiles.com trophy list thing. It is my primary gaming console and I play almost every exclusive and I complete 40-50 % of them and I play most 3rd party games on PS3 as well.
I also play a few Steam games and even tried Battlefield 3 on Origin. I also have Android market games on my Kindle Fire and iOS games of note on my iPhone that I do try out and play (especially when free and well reviewed).
...
I pre-ordered the Wii U as soon as I could and currently have I think 5-10 games either already pre-ordered on intended buy list which are all in just November. I'd say the Pachter theory fails to understand, categorize, and evaluate which "Gamers" are interested in Wii U.
Gamer's that care about games and enjoying games... are interested in Wii U because it will offer something fresh and existing and it will have best in class motion, stellar traditional dual-analog from 3rd parties and something fresh and new with the touchscreen/hybrid controller.
So in short... F*ck Michael Pachter analysis.

Did he get anything right? Nothing about the future as the first analyst to state it has ever been true when coming from Michael Pachter
He thought Zynga would dominate all and the facebook/social games bubble burst pretty damn fast like I was expecting it would. He hyped up and got lot of execs shifting models to Free-To-Play and I am sure that bubble will burst badly as well because free only works in a blue market. Not after competition comes in also offering free... then you quickly realize oh shit we are all spending but not making any bank except the few that get successful. Free-To-Play should also just be called Freemium or Socialized-Gaming where industry labelled Whale gamers that buy all the useless DLC crap fund the game for everybody else.
He said Wii would be toast against PS3 and X360 and was wrong. He said 3DS is dead, but now accounts for 70% of marketshare in Japan and historically Japan statistics tend to mirror into rest of markets with some lag. He said the Vita would smash the 3DS and the Vita is just happy to be selling better than the PSP.
It's best not to listen to the fool except for what not to expect.
He works for Web Bush... and advises foolish investors in the games industry which end up funding lot of Mobile and Social and Free to Play. Generally bubbles that will eventually burst if not bursting already.
I think the only major console game publisher that listens to Michael Pachter is Electronic Arts
There's still a couple of weeks to go. If you seriously think this is the "last time," think again.

Pachter doesn't even know what he's talking about. Iwata himself recently stated that he wants to "actively try to make smart devices our allies, not our enemies."

Its not last gen technology.
You know, its not the need to defend Nintendo that gets me to post against these types of comments, its more of the complete lack of any logic and intelligence in these types of comments that kills me to the point of feeding the troll.
Pachter has a great show on gametrailers you should check it out, by the way he is trolling you guys he said it himself in one episode, he would say some comments just to be quoted in the media and gain exposure.
He's a good dude you are just jealous.
