GST is 5% and you're paying 13% tax which implies that you're paying HST and live in Ontario, Newfoundland and Labrador, or New Brunswick ...

Wait, taxes are not included in your price tags?! that's stupid. They are included in prices of things in Europe anyway, 20% VAT in the UK which is too high i think

Taxes vary from state to state and even city to city.  We don't have a national sales tax or VAT.

I know i was just saying VAT (our version of sales tax) exists in the UK and that it's included in price of goods. 

Some states have zero sales tax, right?

I never understood how the American transactions worked. When you say $60 for a game, so that is without paying tax? How much is the total cost of the game then when you include tax? Also is this for every purchase you make besides gaming related items because it does feel like a huge inconvenience to have to calculate the tax of whatever you are thinking of buying?

This is very new to me because in the UK whenever we see the price of something, it is always tax inclusive, so we always know exactly how much we have to pay overall when we see the price tag.

yeah if you go as example in a shop in usa and the price tag is 100 bucks for a deluxe vibrator or something you have to pay 100+whatever tax that state has on the cashpoint. not like we in europe who pay exactly what the prce tag is.

i understand that they have the prices without tax in online shops because i believe you have to pay the tax of your state in usa even if the online shop is in another state (not exactly sure about that) and because of that there is not only one price for everyone but i have no clue why they don't have the exact price as price tags at retail (i mean, is there any logic why it doesn't show the price you really have to pay?) and i believe many americans buy online and don't pay any tax even if they had to but i'm also not sure about that - which i think is also crazy because that gives retail an disadvantage and i can't really understand why nobody has a problem with that there.

here in germany it's always "damn we have to save the retail" and there it seems like they want to kill it^^ (obviously only if i'm right that many americans buy online and don't pay tax even if they maybe have to but they pay tax for the same at their retailer)

No prices, on any commodity (as far as I'm aware), include tax. Since tax is different from state to state, it's easier to add it on after the fact.
