Forums - Gaming - Zone of Enders HD Collection superior on 360, frame rate much faster on Xbox

WOW I was drunk and quoted the wrong guy... that's want I wanted to quote.

This is the same publisher that gave released an unplayable Silent Hill HD Collection and then refused to patch the 360 version at all. I don't think hardware is the problem in either case.

The Konami is doing crap HD collection for both 360 and PS3.

Gosh, they both look exactly the same to me, oohh that's right, frame rate matters.

Honestly, and I know I'm going to get reamed for this, the 360 should be better at software emulating PS2 games than the PS3. The embedded RAM on the PS2 actually has more bandwidth than even the XDR on the PS3. They'd be able to emulate that easier on the 360 because of the 10MB of embedded RAM on the 360 GPU.

But they should still be able to make it 60 FPS stable on the PS3, even though it might be harder. Sony have done so themselves with far more visually impressive PS2 games.

Some like God of war were made by bluepoint, which is not sony.

Both versions have a poor framerate, it's just an even bigger shame that it is worse on the platform I'm buying it on.

...since when did 40-60FPS become considered a bad framerate? Most console games run at 30. I can guarantee both run a lot smoother than the original did.

I think it's considered a bad framerate when they actually drop below 30FPS, and not far over 30FPS on average, especially the PS3 version, which dropped to 18FPS less than the 360 version during the same scenes...

I've been told the PS3 version is running at a lower framerate than the PS2 version actually... which is very disappointing, but hopefully a patch or something may fix it (Like the Silent Hill HD patch, never played the collection, but apparently it fixed a lot of issues which is nice to know)

I don't remember the 360 version dropping below 30, must have missed that. Still if anything it's well above average. It keeps an average framerate of over 30FPS in both versions, and most games can barely do 30 max without frame drops.

Well thats what you get when you hand out the porting to a Wii developer... High voltage software...

Even better! Some random dev could make GoW2 run at a stable 60FPS on a short dev schedule. Keep up, Konami!

The worst part about this whole thing is that Bluepoint (who did the GoW HD Collection) also did the Metal Gear Solid HD Collection, a Konami IP.  Clearly they're familiar with them and the work they've done.  Why they hand this + Silent Hill to some clearly-not-very-good devs is beyond me.  Not important enough IP's to invest in a team who can do it, perhaps?

Of course they do, the video is running @30FPS.

The PS3 is a far more powerful platform. It's certainly possible but it would take a significant amount reworking depending on how the game is coded. The reason their software emulator for the PS3 was abandoned by Sony is becuase each game handles things differently. Their weren't a lot of built in effects in the PS2 GPU. So often each developer would come up with their own software solutions for their respective game engines. These HD collection ports are, to be frank, a cash grab. They don't want to invest significant funds into these games. So, they'll do he bare minimum to get the games up and running. It's not right...but unfortunately it's reality.

From what I remember, the originals (at least ZOE2) had some significant frame rate problems, especially near the end of the game. It was still extremely fun, but I won't be picking up this set unless it gets a significant discount.

This.

I'm proud to say that I too am the proud owner of the original copies.  But in best case scenario, there will be a future patch that brings the PS3 version up to par with the Xbox 360 version.  Worse case scenario, this will eventually be one of the very few subpar multi-platform PS3 games of the many superior multi-platform PS3 titles that I own.

If it's an EDRAM problem there is no way to patch around the issue.

Of course there is, it's not like these games are emulated, they've been edited and then recompiled.

This is the gazillion terra flop processor that was stacked by the military as a server and they can't make a ps2 game run at 60 frames ?!

KOJIMA WHAT HAVE YOU DONE ?

We trusted you.

Why on earth "high voltage software" and not the tested bluepoint studio that did the HD MGS collection ?!

Why Hideo ?
