Forums - Gaming - Reccomend Me a Dance Game Bundle

Tagged games:

Hey, so I'm thinking about getting my girlfriend a Wii with DDR for Christmas, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any input, or opinion on the dance genre. My girlfriend particularly likes DDR, but is it worthwhile on consoles?

I was thinking about getting a $130 Wii with Just Dance 4, plus the DDR Bundle ($30 with a pad) and the DDR2 bundle ($40 with a pad). This would give my girlfriend 2 dance pads, two DDR games, and Just Dance. Then down the road I could buy her Zelda and maybe the other DDR games that she might be missing.

However I was debating, should I consider a 360 with Kinect? It's $200 for the system, and I hear Just Dance is a good game.

My girlfriend is asian, and a fan of DDR, so DDR is a must. Dance Central would be a bonus, and something new for her.

What are your thoughts? The few girls I know who have Just Dance and DDR on Wii love it, so I thought this would be a perfect gift for her to play with her sister.

Dance central is the best dancing game , no question, no debate, my daughter says so!

I was thinking that too, but I know my girlfriend wants DDR in particular. Is it worth buying a 360 with Kinect plus Dance Central 2 (need 2 player), plus two DDR mats and a DDR game? That would cost close to $350, and realistically my girlfriend will only play 50 hours a year at best.

I'm thinking about getting the Wii, but what sucks is that a second controller is like $60. So if my girlfriend likes Just Dance and wants to play with a friend....well she is out of luck.

I'd go with the Wii. It's the cheaper option. You can pass and play multiplayer with Just Dance. Hell people just dance along without the controller most of the time.

Get the Wii + Just Dance 4 bundle coming early next month, it's only $130.

If she likes DDR, she might like Dance Masters/Dance Evolution

Get the kinect because it is the superior device for playing dance games. You can get a kinect really cheap used and in the long run it will save you money because you wont need to buy any extra controllers. Plus Dance Central is the best dancing game in that genre and you can play Just Dance games on it also.

That looks really cool, and I'm sure she would like it, but she definatly wants the traditional floor mat style game first. This is too new, too different, if I get her this and no floorpad, she won't play.

It might be superior, but it's over double the price and Dance Pad is a definate must. Kinect+Games would be a secondary game for her. Also she would have to move you coffee table every time she wants to play Kinect and I just don't see her doing that.

I had to look up videos of Just Dance to see how it works lol. It's pretty basic, Kinect is more advanced, but since I'm getting this for a 10 year old arcade game port as a primary game, this is a good bonus.

Yes I am probably going to do this. After some thought I thought this was the more logical option. My girlfriend has never owned a game console, she doesn't want something complicated like 360 w/ Kinect. For $130 and $55 for two DDR games with 2 mats, this whole present costs me $185 which is cheaper then the Kinect/360 system without a game. If she ends up liking Just Dance I can get her a second controller down the road.

Plus, Wii has Zelda and Super Mario, and I know my girlfriend likes Skyward Sword. Wii might be a good gateway drug to get her into gaming. I may have to get a second controller and some more game focused games for her birthday if she likes this (her birthday is only 2 months after christmas).

If she really just wants DDR, then the best option is to go Wii, plus getting JD4 as a bonus is nice.

For the second controller, you can try look for a FlingSmash wiimote bundle, they were selling them for $30.

More dance games?

- We Cheer 1/2: Basically Elite Beat Agents for the Wii with dual wiimote gameplay, it's a hard game to master.

- The Zumba's: Fitness/dancing game craze started with these, hip accesory given to dance controller free.

- Additional Just Dance: Could be too much JD, but you also have Abba, Broadway, Michael Jackson...

- BONUS: Rhythm Heaven Fever, low price rhythm goodness!

Yea I think I'm going to do that, and 3 dance games is plenty. If she likes the Wii and wants more games I'll get her Skyward Sword and Super Mario Galaxy 2. I know she will like them. Maybe new play contol Pikmin as well.
