Forums - Nintendo - Best Wii U launch games to buy, and which ones you should avoid

I think NSMB and Assassin's Creed 3 are safe bets for quality, so I'll probably just start with those. Those two games plus maybe a couple E shop games that catch my eye should be enough to hold me over until Nintendo really starts getting the ball rolling with games like DQX, Monster Hunter, Pikmin, etc.

Tank Tank Tank actually looks pretty fun, I just can't see myself buying that for $60. Black Ops 2 I would get if not for the fact that everyone I know will be playing online for the 360. Zombi U is a major wildcard for me. I'll wait for reviews.

Shame that Pikmin 3, Rayman and Wonderful 101 were pushed back as they all look like AAA titles, better than anything on the actual launch day besides NSMB.

if i wouldn't have other consoles and pc i would absolutely buy assassins creed 3 for wii u! i mean, it's not only a port if this would be a problem for me. just because it's missing a season pass and doesn't take advantage from the gamepad makes it still a probably awesome game.

i wouldn't buy games like batman because when i see that i could buy arkham asylum goty edition + arkham city for $9.99 on amazon few days ago i wouldn't like to pay $60 for only one of both games even with some gamepad usage. that would be just too much for me to justify knowing that huge price difference.

but i have nothing against ports as long as they aren't too expensive compared to the other versions.

@Cheebee: I was wondering about that myself, I really can't say it justifiable because it's a day one launch title, or that they must've backed out 'cause the timeframe of developing the game was too short... I really have no bloody clue on this one. :/

And proud member of the Mega Mario Movement!

I'm getting Assassin's Creed 3, and maybe Mass Effect 2.

I am going to hold out on New Super Mario Bros because of how much NSMB2 felt like a generic Platformer without the adventurous feeling of Mario 3 or World, or the standout levels of those two games.

I would be happier with a straight up Wii U enhanced version of Mario 3 or World.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

If this article is correct:
http://wiiudaily.com/2012/08/assassins-creed-3-wii-u-missing-features/

Then I'd steer clear of AC3, unless you don't mind missing features (just like Madden, which is listed in the OP).

And I think that the completely revamped Ninja Gaiden is worth checking out. That one a truly the definitive version, and shows how to take an older game a make it seem new. Or at least how to make shit look like gold.

guys Lebrox is not the writer of the OP so if he says don't buy the games he mentions its not going against what he says as he did not say buy them in the first place.

I was looking forward to Ass 3 but reading that it might miss a few features then i might not get it at all. but then these features might not effect the game play that much so i might get it after all. if Ubisoft does not care about the WiiU user base then fuck you ubi I won't be getting any of your games! I need prof of them saying that though :P

    R.I.P Mr Iwata :'(

that article says it may be missing a few technical features and that its 99% similar to other versions...theres a big difference between that and what EA is doing with madden. From what i've seen, AC3 looks just as good or better on Wii U and this isn't anything that will affect gameplay so it shouldn't hold you back from buying it

The Wii U is looking so sweet. Unfortunately, I'd have to buy a TV for it, and I'm not sure I can justify that expense without knowing whether or not the Wii U can sustain my interest for a long period of time.

That makes no sense. All Wii U games can be played on in high quality on the gamepad. You honestly don't even need a TV.

I have no TV. Zero.

While it would be technically possible for me to play on a gamepad, I'm not sure that would be the best experience.
