Forums - Sales - Which sales figures are more accurate now? NPD, Media Create, Vgchartz, Famitsu, etc

Probably either NPD or Media create. I get the feeling VGChartz collates its information by getting a bunch of monkeys to run around game stores. The numbers can be incredibly inaccurate. Still love you guys, don't get upset.

not vgchartz

Famitsu = MediaCreate > NPD >x100> VGChartz

VGC is at a disadvantage here, though.

1. VGC doesnt really get paid to track, like NPD. People pay THOUSANDS for NPD data.

2. VGC doesnt just track one region, like the others.

One day... Hopefully... We will be on the same level as those guys.

Vgchartz seems to do a great job considering they aren't as big as the NPD.

vgchartz are quite accurate with japan and US. its the european regions which vg have problems with. they also have a problem tracking during the holidays. always off by quite a bit during the holidays and software figures are wide off the mark aswell.

VGC will never be on the level of NPD, sorry that's just the plain truth.

MediaCreate>Famitsu

Famitsu is great but MC even better(10000shop vs 30000 shop)

To me

1 - Shipped Numbers - the definitive source
2 - Media Create/Famitsu/NPD
3 - ??????
4 - VGChartz (and no, I'm not in any sales thread, not that I think it's wrong to be ^)

I say this, VG chartz instead of a tracker, should be the ultimate place for sales related info. For example, there's a released interview that a dev told how much they shipped for Assassin's Creed PSP (pretty overtracked here, naming one example), but to find it, you have to turn the internet inside out again and again. There should be a place, where all that official info, plus Financial reports, sales forecasts, leaked numbers, media create/famitsu, everything of that nature could be found, easily.

To me it's kinda ridiculous to get sales info, and then having to wait for "confirmation" 1 month later. It doesn't matter if a particular number it's tracked great, because it always can not be, so what's the point of assuming that it is right?

Any short term numbers are not going to be great.
To be honest, no one outside of subscribers know what NPD says these days.

VGC is probably best on bigger selling games and games that have been out for a bit (so official numbers can be used for corrections). And it is free and widely available -- the only such data on this industry.

I would also put Chart-Track high on that list. Certainly higher than NPD.
