You're right. I'm awesome at this.

The UV-ray disks can now store 500gb!!

Edit:

Rise in Cancer for gamers due to hardcore wifi connections.

Kinect 2.0 now used for porn.

Yay!!!

Lets see.....

Micro$oft: Its hard with them since they seemed to be always indifferent over the years with their success. Continue with their usual claim that they have the best console (and sotware) for gaming (like any other company that has nothing else to say about their products). Continue with the 360 until they announce a successor.

Sony: Still pushing for the 10yr cycle; though by this time, it would've been 8 years since the PS3 launched. You'd think by after this period of time, they would've already been in developement on their successor so they could later announce it when it's finaly been ten years. It's rather silly for them to announce the next playstation right after the ten year mark. PS2 by this time would finaly be in it's resting place (no more production) PS Vita is just hanging by a thread with a small devotion by devs who are still supporting it.

Nintendo: Wii-U would've gotten a foot hold on the market by now with either rip roaring or moderate success (since we don't know anything about its sales yet). Third party support growing, but gradualy. 3DS doing okay until some big announcements turn up in the comming months. Wii on its death bed with life support. By then, it would be only a matter of time before Nintendo ceases production and/or third party cuts its source of software. Then it would just be living off of used game sales and leave many with some fond memories.

Can't say anything about Apple (mind is blank)

But what I can say is that by 2014, much like with previous consoles before the 6th generation, used games for the 6th gen would be getting more and more scarced. When that becomes a reality, gamestop and other stores will stop selling games for the PS2, XBOX, and GC due to rarity. So if you want to rehash the past with games of yesteryear now's the time to go to your closest GS and start hunting. Because once they disappear,  depending on the game, they're going to get pricey.

Which reminds me. Summer 2010 I remember going to my local gamecrazy (cause it was just closing), and I decided to see what they had. It was pretty much emtpy except for a few racks filled with an assortment of games. Then I found one game which Im glad I stumbled upon, Odin Sphere. It was the only copy left for 10 bucks. Snagged, along with Muramasa (also cheap) and ExciteBots. I would've regretted it If didn't pick it up.

See me and mom know the truth just like I said in the post above.

Microsoft

At E3 2013, Microsoft announces a new alliance with Apple. They work together to ensure that SmartGlass is a great success. Smartglass takes off better than Microsoft had ever hoped. Even with Smartglass though, the 360 starts to die down as a result of the generation winding down.

On November 15th, 2013, the Nextbox releases at $299 (it's name is literally 'Nextbox') and sells amazingly. Microsoft offers a deal that gives away one free iPad 4 with every Nextbox sold. Suffice to say, Nextbox sales explode. Kinect 2.0 comes bundled inside the Nextbox for free. So, consumers get a Nextbox, Kinect 2.0, and an iPad 4 for free. Microsoft uses their monies to buy Activision, Ubisoft, and Take2. They recieve exclusive rights to Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Assassin's Creed, and other big games.

On January 4th, 2014, Apple holds a press conference. During the conference, Apple announces the iPad 5. Surprisingly, Microsoft shows up and reveals that there will be another Nextbox bundle, this time with the iPad 5 instead of the iPad 4. Sales explode and the Nextbox sales during Jan-March are higher than they were during the holiday.

At E3 2014, Microsoft announces that the next three iPads (the iPad 6, 7, and 9), will be available only via Nextbox bundles. And they also announce that the iPad 6 would be releasing the next day. For the rest of the year, the Nextbox sells 45 million units. Who knows how they do during the next years.

Nintendo

Nintendo's Wii U was successful initially. It was tracking only slightly below the Wii and Nintendo was happy with sales. Even third parties were jumping on board. Unfortunately, that all changed when the Nextbox released. Microsoft paid off every third-party developer to put their games only on the Nextbox. Wii U is left with no third-party support.

As the Nextbox releases, consumers abandon the Wii U altogether, claiming the motion controls are like a poor man's kinect, and that the Gamepad was a poor man's Smartglass, and that the Pro Controller was a poor man's Nextbox controller. Nintendo recieves the unshakeable reputation as a shameless copier. The stigma is so strong that even Nintendo employees themselves believe that they are copiers.

As a result, most Nintendo employees are ashamed for their actions. To save any ounce of honor they had, they all perform public sudoku. The remaining Nintendo employees try to unite and compose themselves. Microsoft offered Nintendo to release their games on the Nextbox; they would be given more profit than they could imagine. But they deny the offer and the scattered remains of Nintendo leaves the gaming market altogether. On August 4th, 2014, Nintendo goes back to the playing-card business and makes a low, but moderate profit.

Sony

E3 2013. The PS3 is selling okay and Sony announces that they are happy with their first-party game's sales like The Last of Us. They see that the Nextbox looks to have a promising start, but they are not afraid. They announce the PS4 and say that it will release in 2014. Sony shows their first teaser for a PS4 game (Killzone 4). Audiences are blown away; many believe the trailer was fake and the PS4 wouldn't be powerful enough to run such graphics.

Winter 2013. With the Nextbox releasing, Sony slashes the PS3's price to $149. They seem to be highly confident that the price cut will keep the PS3 competitive for one more year. Unfortunately, the Nextbox is too strong and the PS3 sales fall. By the end of the year, the PS3 is seeing sales in the triple digits. Vita is dead.

E3 2014. The sales for the PS3 are so low that it begins to reach negative sales. Sony announces that they will be discontinuing the PS3 to avoid further harm. After seeing Microsoft's E3 presentation, they see that they cannot compete and announce that they will be canceling the PS4 too.

Sony leaves the gaming industry altogether and enters the drug industry. They have a decent start, offering high quality drugs for a low price. But eventually Sony grows overconfident and starts jacking their coccaine prices why higher than the competition. As a result, coccaine sales becomes so terrible that other divisions within Sony takes a hit. Sony has a press conference in the streets and assures consumers that their products are worth the higher price. But consumers don't agree. By the end of 2014, Sony implodes from within. Every memory of Sony is gone.

The Last Guardian is never released.

I hope it is cause I saw some idiot on youtube do that, and I just started busting out laughing.

Nintendo: The Wii U will have been a moderate success (think Xbox 360 levels) and yet it will get more third party support than the Wii ever did. Casual games will never really take hold on the console like they did on the original Wii, so the Wii U resembled the N64 and GC more than it does its predecessor. The 3DS will still be going very strong and getting enormous amounts of support in terms of both core and casual games. Malstrom will continue to complain because that's what he does.

Sony: The PS3 could well be approaching 100 million by the end of the year, but realistically more like 85-90 million. Vita will have started to pick up and get some proper support to go along with the excellent technology. The PS4 will have been out since late 2013, will be a little more powerful than the Wii U with more RAM, a simpler architecture and more integrated motion control (though the gamepad will remain as the primary control method). Vita connectivity will be played up a lot and either the PS3 or PS4 will be bundled with the Vita, perhaps both.

The Last Guardian will finally be out (I wish), and the PS4 will have launched with a much stronger lineup than the PS3, though perhaps not as strong as the Wii U. Online will remain free with a premium service similar to PlayStation Plus available from PS4 launch.

Microsoft: Like the PS3, the Xbox 360 should be around 85, but I don't see the slight possibility of cracking seven figures that I do for the PS3, just because the trend is quite steeply downwards. Controversy time! Kinect will have gone the way of Sixaxis, still occasionally thrown into games, and even with some games designed around it, but not the be-all and end-all of control schemes that it was arguably intended to be. Nevertheless, a far more powerful version will have been included in the Outlook Box or BingBox or whatever they call their new system, and this will be more commonly used outside a motion controller similar to the Move or Wiimote. Smartglass will have fizzled out and been largely replaced by the new Microsoft handheld. The NextBox will have been launched around the same time as the PS4, and at a similar price level. It will lack the early third party exclusivity of the 360, but this will be partially improved by a larger first party range of developers.

Apple: Either they have a revolution like the original iPhone, or they start to crumble around this point.

PC: Bigger than ever before. Steam will be hitting 10 million concurrent users. Origin will be shut down for being unprofitable. Indie gaming will be in a new renaissance. Cheaper and cheaper components will mean that, once again, a gaming PC is cheaper than a console with better performance. By now, however, the consoles have begun to offer more unique experienced tied to gaming, so both forms of gaming will continue to exist.

Misc: Gabe Newell will still be fat, everyone will still hate Bobby Kotick, HL3 will have no release date, people finally start to forget about that god awful Cake is a Lie meme.
