Console exclusive gone. Surprised it took this long. How long was the 360 console exclusive contract? Did it just expire? Did EA pay MS? These are things I wonder.
Great news for PS3 fans, but a TOTAL slap in the face to do this AFTER ME3 is out. The experience started at the begining and a lot of Sony fans missed out if they didn't own a gaming PC or a XBox.
S.T.A.G.E. I'm beginning to wonder if you even remember ME2 or ME1 all that well, particularly ME2; Liara wasn't a normal squadmate in it. She was only available in Lair of the Shadow Broker.
And you're not really
Not really talking about the writing or characters, there
Saying "It's my opinion, leave me alone" isn't an argument
I never said its my opinion, leave me alone. I would rather not talk about something I dont know. I stated there are areas where we can agree to disagree and there are areas of games where I've played from beginning to end and my experience should be respected. Everything else was up for grabs in argument. I am not going to speak as if I experienced the ME DLC. I could watch the Youtube videos of it and come right back into the argument if I didnt respect the series enough.
I guess ME1 benefitted a lot from being the first one. It was enjoyable in the way that The Gunslinger or the first season of Lost was enjoyable, since you're discovering this new world and it seems like anything can happen. Everyone is happy with that. But once you start putting a finer point on things, and especially when you start wrapping things up, you're bound to piss people off by taking a direction they didn't expect and don't like. It doesn't help when you have a legitimately shitty ending, which both Mass Effect and Lost did.
I agree that Sovereign was a great, menacingly vague first enemy because you really didn't know what he wanted (other than to fuck your shit up, of course). And he was a giant spaceship with a scary voice, which was great. But Kai Leng was annoying as shit and he fucking killed Thane and killing him was far more satisfying thankilling Saren's corpse. Sometimes a pathetic bitch can be an effective villain!

I was in awe of Kai Leng in a way I was of Raiden in Metal Gear Solid 4 . The computer and cinematics was having more fun than I was in ME3.
PullusPardus said: The first mass effect is my favorite, the other two are massively generic and overrated, it had a generic shooting mechanic , almost like a shooter than an RPG, very forgettable battles , that are just hordes and hordes of enemies, also filled with pointless and "Try too hard" emotional scenes, and love scenes, it all felt like a joke compared to the first one , where bioware actually tried to be original.
tl;dr might as well just play the first game and skip the rest.
Really....Not much between them imo....besides much higher production values in 2 and 3.
If you hadn't played 1 before 2 and 3 I would guess you wouldn't think what you do and it's just because you had already experienced "mass effect".
We all look back at Garrus and think "He's so cool and funny, what a bad-ass" but none of that showed in ME1 at all
Haha, yeah. He was such an earnest, well-meaning, stick-in-the-mud dorkball in ME1. My heart leapt when I caught up to him in ME2 and he had become the turian I always knew he could be.
ME1 laid a great foundation for things to come, but I really don't see how anyone can really think it's the best of the series in either writing (hey my names ashley n i hate aleins lolz! yay humies!) or gameplay (a footshot is just as good as a headshot!).
Looking at the tone of my previous posts, it looks like I don't like ME1.
This is not the case. ME1 is really a very good game, even great. I enjoyed it immensely, and it's one of my favorite RPGs in a long time.
But the perspective of time and superior sequels really highlights the way in which the game fell short, and the idyllic way that a lot of people see the game doesn't make a ton of sense to me
Couldn't agree more.
ME1 was not a "AAA" game when it was released, most people overlooked it. PS3 fans rubbished it and said it was boring etc etc.
....Oh look now, there's some notable faces in this thread who may well fall into the list of PS3 fans who called it out quoting the "bad frame rate". "poor texture loading"...
(Of course, they hadn't actually played the game).

ME1 was AAA in from the 2005-2007 region of development after Kotor was finished at Bioware. The bugs were all apart of usual first game issues, but it was still amazing nevertheless. The game was expected to have an increased production value and doubly so after being purchased by EA after the first game showed how popular the first was.
