If the Vita sells ~10.5k each week for the next two weeks, it'll hit 1 million on week 40 of this year. That means it took the Vita 43 weeks to hit 1 million, including one holiday.

For comparison:

DS took 4 weeks, with one holiday

PSP took 14 weeks, with one holiday

3DS took 13 weeks, no holiday

Sony fans on this site should be thankful that MS and Ninty fans are as bloodthirsty.  When 3DS was putting up pre-price cut numbers they couldn't shut up about it.  Now Vita is doing what it's doing and fortunately everyone is being mature about it and not rubbing it in - cause it is kind of a shame.  And all rage should be directed at Sony for just sitting and letting this happen.

Also, Vita really exposes how much Sony depends on 3rd parties because their first party can't carry anything.

At the rate Vita is selling with a mediocre holiday release schedule, and Yohida saying a price drop won't be this year, the latter will happen anyway.

A price cut would help the system a lot, imo. In japan, a little less, cause the release schedule is really atrocious for this year. But for the west? It can push those holiday big games a lot.

I still think it'll come... or else sony is crazy, and they'll miss their forecast bad (for a second time!) A price cut post holidays won't produce much sales, since nothing sells great post holidays anyway.

We, they do combine Vita and PSP now, so maybe they cut PSP price to make the numbers look better - it'll just be 70% - 30% split in PSP's favor!?

I would agree that a pricedrop would be a no brainer, but there's Sony's financial situation to consider.

I'm pretty sure that you can't bring up Vita without the someone tagging along failure, bomb, fail, flop, or no gamez. I really don't see any difference between how the two were treated.

I mean, there will be small talk about it in Media Create threads, but you gotta admit it was MUCH worse when 3DS was struggling - it was "failure, bomb, fail, flop, and/or no gamez" x20 compared to how it is for the Vita now.  And then there were all the threads about how the Vita would trash the 3DS, etc. 

I don't think it's a contest myself.

Well, even the most hardcore Vita fans have conceded that the system is a flop from a hardware sales prespective. I still think it has some very compelling games, but please show someone who thinks that Vita is still in actual sales competition with the 3DS.
