Most of those games take over a year to release in Japan, and more than a year in the West. The system released in November/December 2004. Animal Crossing (big deal) and Mario Kart (equally big deal) took a full year to release. Brain Age (big deal as well) was over a year after release. The rest of those titles were either minor or modest releases. Frankly, it took a year for anything worthwhile to come out from Nintendo for the system, which is not exactly robust support in my mind.

Oh, you meant in the west? Yeah, I agree.

Mario 64 had to keep things going until Nintendogs became a major hit. But the DS sold more on 1st party games in the beggining, obviously, but things like the, then novelty, touch games was the real cause of its success. Even games like Learn Magic Tricks or Tamagotchi sold extremely well.

Tagging

Despite not having any killer apps lately the 3DS is selling amazingly well; reaching nearly 62K units!!! Can't wait to see numbers when better games do arrive. What's the closest new killer app to be released for the 3DS anyways? I think it's paper mario, but is there anything else before that?

Vita info from neogaf - adjust the doomsday clock one minute forward

Top 50 Media Create

2 weeks with 0 titles
12 weeks with 1 title
10 weeks with 2 titles
an average of 2.11 per week in 2012

(missing some weeks here, I'll try to make a better average later)

---------------------------------------------------

If the Vita sells ~10.5k each week for the next two weeks, it'll hit 1 million on week 40 of this year. That means it took the Vita 43 weeks to hit 1 million, including one holiday.

For comparison:

DS took 4 weeks, with one holiday

PSP took 14 weeks, with one holiday

3DS took 13 weeks, no holiday

What's worse it that it is struggling to hit 3mil worldwide despite releasing more than 9 months ago in Japan (Sony's second best market) and nearly 7 months since releasing everywhere else!!!

Things might look better seeing that good games like Muramasa (I think it'll sell worse than the Wii version) and LKS2 are releasing soon.  Though if those titles get ported to the 3DS it wouldn't matter to the PSV anyways since the real big hitters have already released on the system!

Vita still ahead of Wonderswan and Neo Geo Pocket.

Sounds good.

LOL...those are good company the Vita is in isn't it? Sony should just really drop support for the thing as it is costing them a small fortune and concentrate on how they could make the PS4 more successful!!!  The Wii U isn't going to be so handicapped in terms of performance next generation and that's something Sony needs to handle if they are to continue in the biz!!!
