Shoot, it's not like first party support was robust from the start either!

Oh, it was.

Daigasso! Band-Brothers (Japan-only)
Big Brain Academy (2006 for NA/Europe)
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Animal Crossing: Wild World (2006 for Europe)
Brain Age (2006 for NA/Europe)
Brain Age 2 (2007 for NA/Europe)
DS Rakubiki Jiteri (some Touch Generation game for Japan-only)
Ridge Racer DS (now we can include it Rol)
Mario Kart DS
Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time (2006 for Europe)
Kirby: Canvas Curse
Nintendogs
Pokemon Trozei! (2006 for NA/Europe)
Super Mario 64 DS
Pokemon Mystery Dungeon (2006 for NA/Europe)
Warioware: Touched!
Super Princess Peach (2006 for NA/Europe)
True Swing Golf (2006 for NA)
Yakuman DS (Japan-only)

Most of those games take over a year to release in Japan, and more than a year in the West. The system released in November/December 2004. Animal Crossing (big deal) and Mario Kart (equally big deal) took a full year to release. Brain Age (big deal as well) was over a year after release. The rest of those titles were either minor or modest releases. Frankly, it took a year for anything worthwhile to come out from Nintendo for the system, which is not exactly robust support in my mind.
