I mean, there will be small talk about it in Media Create threads, but you gotta admit it was MUCH worse when 3DS was struggling - it was "failure, bomb, fail, flop, and/or no gamez" x20 compared to how it is for the Vita now.  And then there were all the threads about how the Vita would trash the 3DS, etc.

I don't think it's a contest myself.

Well, even the most hardcore Vita fans have conceded that the system is a flop from a hardware sales prespective. I still think it has some very compelling games, but please show someone who thinks that Vita is still in actual sales competition with the 3DS.

I don't know why you're asking me to do that because that's not my argument at all.  I'm talking about the Sony fan reaction to 3DS struggling - that was in 2010.  And the MS, Nintendo fan reaction to Vita struggling now.  We're not talking about current Sony/Vita fans now, of course they've disappeared now and surface when a big game like (Persona, Miku) is released.

I think Giglamesh was the biggest proponent of the Vita surpassing the 3ds insoles right after the vita release.

I see. I thought you were talking about how the criticism was so one-sided then in terms of positive/negative coverage. My mistake.

I remember when they called the 3DS dead and all that and no one cared.

I called the Vita dead one time and got permabanned but after a month of emails finally got it overturned. And the Vita is still dead.

Then they boycott until a game sells good. If LBP sells a lot they'll be back saying that the 3DS is deadmeat.

It's all good.  I meant 2011, btw... not 2010.  My mistake.

Final Fantasy III has such awesome music. Glad to see it keep selling even so long after it was made.

If they do that again, they are dead meat. The policies have changed in the past year or so, and they would get reported and done away with, worry not.

New Art Academy DLC announced for Japan

September 27th, 2012 Posted in 3DS, News, Posted by Valay | No Comments »

New Art Academy will be getting some downloadable content in Japan next week.

For 150 yen each, players can purchase one of three packs. They are as follows:

- Summer Foods pack: learn how to shade with paints using an ice cream lesson and berry mini-lesson
- Boats pack: learn about pointillism to bring out colors in both paint (blue boat) and pencil (white boat mini-lesson)
- Animals pack: learn how to recreate fur and feathers in pastel with a cat lesson and chicken mini-lesson.

The DLC goes live on October 4.

Nintendo really is entering head-on on the DLC train.

Good and bad feelings about this... but after Fire Emblem DLC numbers (and numerous others from other devs) it's hard to go against them for that. Must be a huge market

As a fan of Nintendo, it pleases me to see the hardware numbers every week. Not only 3dsxl but others as well.

What are you trying to say Cyber?

Any new 3DS games coming out this week in japan?

@ Vic

Reported for being off topic.

Maybe he's saying that he's happy the 3ds is selling well?

Do you mean games that just released today? (Girls Mode and pink 3ds LL, and kokuga?)

or for next week(10/4)? None. Resident Evil 6 is releasing so I don't think too many companies want to go up against it.

So it will be a really big week again for the 3DS? Not sure about the games, but the new color should get shoppers to fork over some cash.

Vic Viper posted the list/box art on the previous page.

girls mode did well on the DS, had a decent 86k opening and legged it out to almost 900k.

not sure how the 3ds one will do. Launching alongside the new pink/white 3ds LL might help both of them.

Kokuga is a shmup (from the creator of Ikaruga!), but it probably won't sell too much. I picked up a copy myself on Thursday as I like shmups.
