Obsidian ? Wasted money IMO. When was the last time they made a new IP that was actually a great ? Oh right... never. Or if you count Black Isle Studios, 12 years ago.

Can I set up a kickstarter to redevelop your taste in games? I'll include a Halo t-shirt for $10 backers if you want in

I said new IP. Alpha Protocol is in no way a great game. Even "good" is highly debatable. Icewind Dale is their 2nd youngest IP and that was 12 years ago.

Wait are those the guys who made Alpha Protocoll?

That game sucked bit times.

They suck hard at action, luckly this game is not action so they can focus on the writing and RPG systems that they are good at.

They where good at. When was the last game they made except of Alpha Protocoll?

lol what happened to your English ? Are you drunk, because I know you can do better than that.

Their last game was Dungeon Siege III (which I completed as well as Alpha Protocol).

They didn't have such an opportunity before to make something they wanted. The old school RPG is dead to most publishers, clearly not to gamers.

I have googeld them. And Wikipedia is saying. Their last 3 games Dungeon Siege 3 (72 on Metacritic) Fallout New Vegas (Bug orgy) and Neverwinter Nights 2.

Maybe they can make one of the best RPGs ever but I do not expect it. And if I where you I would not expect too much either.

While it is true that some of their new IPs were not as good as expected, Project Eternity is supposed to be old school CRPG, and that is genre of games they excel at making. Over the years Obsidian proved over and over again that they can develope games with great stories, and as for gameplay they already made it clear that it will be similar to those CRPG classics (hence already well known and loved), and while that may turn some people away, that is the audience that they are making this game for. So, I have no doubt that they will deliver superb game for old school CRPG fans (and yes, I am one of them, Planescape Torment being my favourite RPG of all times ;)

In light of how their small resources has only allowed them to release one new IP in their lifetime, I don't completely understand this criticism. Is it basically just "Alpha Protocol sucked"?

Wow, Obsidian on Kickstarter.

A huge project, I predict it will pledge $5 million.

Now if the ex-Ensemble guys would announce a spiritual sequel to Age of Empires II we would see +$10 million.

YES PLEASE HAPPEN!

All hail the KING, Andrespetmonkey

haha - I really wish people would use some common sense here.

First off - yes they have had some buggy games. But they are not kickstarting a 3D RPG with a complex engine like Alpha Protocol or Fallout New Vegas.

What they are making is an isometric RPG in the vein of the great PC RPGs of the late 90s/early 00s. Not only that, but they have many of the people that worked on what I (and I think many others) would consider that golden age of RPGs - Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale, Planescape Torment and Fallout 1/2.

It is also hilarious that people are saying "$1.1 million that is nothing LOL". They will have much more than that from their kickstarter (they must have known this beforehand, but its best to set expectations low and overacheive), and I hope you also realise that they will also have a product to sell at the end of development - theyre not entirely reliant on what they get out of the kickstarter.

Initial goal of 1.1 million achieved. Currently trending toward 18 million.
