People who are complaining about contract costs need to get over it.

Nice prediction SuperChunk!

Complaining? Most people are saying it's unfair to not count the contract costs when making a comparison like this.

Yes, complaining. It's totally fair. Why would you count the contract price? All you should count is the retail price.

1. Because it's a price you have to pay

2. Because not everyone gets it on contract

3. Because it's not even available on contract in some countries I know of

Its a price that practically everyone who has a cellphone has to pay.

Well if they wanted it to be cheaper then they should've.

We aren't talking about what a countries might not have contracts, many do if they have  a phone service, though.

Besides, I don't think SuperChunk was really focusing on price in the fist place.

Yeah thread wasnt focused on price at all, more to compare the specs of the top end smartphones and VITA , irrespective of price.

But i think if you did compare prices its a bit silly to compare a prepaid price to a contract price, as you literally are paying for your phone in the contract as well as the rest of the network costs.

A comparison in this case is really simple....just compare the prepaid price, not sure how this is even an argument. The iPhone is always going to be more expensive though and rightfully so, it shouldnt be something that Apple fans feel they need to defend as the price of most high end smartphones is well justified imo.

Bold: Still a price that needs to be payed...and no, I don't have to pay for a contract lulz.

Oh my gosh. The price doesn't really matter anyway, the iPhone 5 is "better" than the Vita.

" So, with this... I was right and the Vita is now at least equaled, but more than likely surpassed by a $200 phone in terms of raw power.  "

This is the sentence I disagree with. It's not a $200 phone. That's a fact. Vita is about 2/5 of the price of an iPhone 5.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. Yes, you have to pay for the cellular service. If you already own a smartphone or planned to buy one anyway, that cost is immaterial. If you don't own one and don't plan to buy one, then it's significant.

Looks like the A6 is actually faster and more power efficient than a Cortex-A15, it's a custom design.

So the contract is always the same price, no matter what phone?

All smartphones are the same price for service, yes. Dumbphones are cheaper.

But the Vita actually has proper games and dedicated software support. Instead of 99c phone games.
Plus the Vita is way cheaper.

This is just a tech comparison though.

Besides, I got an iPhone 5 for £79...so it's actually cheaper than the PS Vita (at least for me anyway).

Thank you for explaining that better than I seemed to have.
:)

So Superchunk, are you letting this thread die or do you not want to adjust the iPhone 5's cpu to the A6 ARMv7 clocked at 1.02ghz?

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(
