Forums - Sales - Japan sales week 36: Famitsu & Media-create (post Hatsune Miku week)

The developers for Hatsune Miku came out and stated that they were displeased with the sales of the game?

What were they expecting it to sale?

Kinda. First they said there wouldn't be a sequel because of the high development costs of the game.

Then they rectified (claiming misunderstading/mistranslation) saying that they expected the game to be Vita's best selling game of the year. Before this week's numbers I really thought it would still be! But the drop was immense. Checking the series history, that's normal... so maybe the devs expected that before most did.

WOW! just wow... really terrible for Vita and Miku. 20k was my prediction, but I didn't expect it to drop to this level until next week.

3DS, while selling well compared to the others (again more than everyone else combined), it's somewhat dissapointing when you relize that it's basically back to its pre 3DS XL pre NSMB2 launch after only one month :(

Speaking of NSMB2, it's already sub-40k. It looks like it doesn't have a chance at 3 million in Japan before 2013 (or even 10 million worldwide for that matter)

Indeed, Japan seems to be a wee bit tired of 2D Mario games. Of course, this will still end up being one of the best selling games on the 3DS and of all time there.

For comparison, the DS NSMB was past 4 million after its first holiday (7 - 8 months of sales), and NSMB Wii did 3m in ONLY 7 weeks (It was a holiday launch though). I hope NSMBU turns out really good because while I'm having a blast with this game (Coin Rush is addicting XD), I think that 2D Mario really needs to change and evolve to attract more consumers especially with much stronger competition than the past.

Gothcha, That unfortunate for them hopefully they at least made profit on the game. But yeah the drop in both Vita hardware and Hatsune software was immense.I can see why they won't make a sequel

I'm an advocate for motion controls, Nintendo, and Kicking freaking Toad to the Moon!

I thought this was common knowledge and was why the reaction last week was silly.

Don't get me wrong. I expected it to fall a lot. But just like Persona bent the JRPG legs (or lack of legs) rule, I expected the same here.

I called Persona Vita's little Mario Kart... the must buy game for the system, for the lack of others. And it fullfilled that title - I think this will be the first top 50 it won't show up since its release.

Hatsune Miku apparently won't be elevated to that place, and now it'll most likely fall quickly.

Oh my, that is a big Vita drop!

I don't see Turkish or others this time, how odd ;)

Still, everything is pretty bad.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

So... I understand now why the devs were not pleased with Hatsune Miku's performance. It won't become Vita's best selling game (persona will carry the torch for a long time).

Harvest Moon unbundled won the fight against Hatsune Miku bundled with special edition console...
We need to re-evaluate our concept of big games, guys.

BTW... dat Run for Money game... I wouldn't be surprised if passes HM in the future too... what the hell!

Remember, it looks like this, lol

The developers for Hatsune Miku came out and stated that they were displeased with the sales of the game?

What were they expecting it to sale?

The developers never said that.

First he said this: http://kotaku.com/5940917/hatsune-miku-boosts-vita-sales-but-she-may-not-be-back-for-an-encore

Naka no Hito also stated: “The sales numbers are out… At this rate, the chances of [Project Diva] f2 are looking tight, ’cause we spent too much on the development costs of f…”

Then he complemented with this

http://www.siliconera.com/2012/09/05/a-closer-look-at-hatsune-miku-project-diva-f-sales/

He later added: “Mm, it seems like some people have gotten the wrong idea, but
we’re still doing our best to sell our product! Our target is to be the best-selling game on the Vita in 2012.”

-----

It's not going to be the best selling Vita game in 2012. Well... probably

Wait. What is going to be the best selling Vita game this year?

Unless we get some new holiday release dates soon, Persona 4.

Persona left the top 30 with 194k. But since then had awesome legs in the top 50 (where sales are not published). It'still there actually

We'll see how they will clash at the end of the year annual sales charts. But I highly doubt Hatsune Miku will beat persona.

You guys are not seriously saying the Vita is getting nothing else that is big this year.

Can you think of anything? There are still a few weeks before the TGS and a possible release date or two, but nothing with a release date stands out at the moment.
