What wasn't Metroid Prime 3 made an option?

I didn't list Metroid Prime 3 or Red Steel 2 as I believe those are more adventure/brawler games than FPS ones. (If you feel othewise, by all means post them)

If they did count, MP3 would not only be far and away the winner, but also one of the best FPS games of this generation, in my view.

Goldeneye seems the logical choice for me too, (the campaign is really fun and well designed) but I'm also tempted to vote for Medal of Honor Heroes 2. MoH may not have 007's production values, but it still has some of the best motion controls of all time in my opinion. The combination of 60fps and customizable sensitivity and deadzones makes aiming incredibly smooth, fast, and accurate, and actions like pumping the nunchuk to pump your shotgun or placing the wiimote on your shoulder to use the bazooka and hearing the launch in your ear and feeling the rumble are just awesome. Also, while I never played the online myself, it supported 32 players and did away with friend codes.

I finished the 1st and 3rd. The second one got so annoying with having to criss-cross literally the entire map every other major event. I don't mind back tracking, but back tracking from one far end to the other every time? Too much backtracking.

I felt the same about Prime 2. Difficulty curve  was wonky too. Still a good game, but not a great one like Prime 1 and 3.

You missed Red Steel 2, a FPS-Shooters too. Why only First-Person-Shooters? There are other and better shooters for the Wii, like Sin&Punishment, Resident Evil 4, Rogue Trooper, The Sky Crawlers etc. etc.

The best Shooter for the Wii is Metroid Prime 3, even if it is more than a simple shooter like the shooters you mentioned.

As I said, I excluded Red Steel 2 on the grounds that I consider it more a first person brawler/beat-em-up/straight-up action game.

I'm aware of those other games, but for the purpose of this topic I was more interested in where people's preferences lie as far as standard FPS games on Wii go.

I also excluded games I didn't think would be popular, like Red Steel 1, Medal of Honor Vanguard, Call of Duty 3, and Far Cry Vengeance.

And Prime 3 more simple than the games I mentioned? I'd say it's more complex thanks to its exploration and problem-solving elements.

Goldeneye. Because it's Goldeneye.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

GoldenEye was the best. The campaign is very good and the time trials were very challenging. The multiplayer is also very, very good. Oh, and I can play as Francisco Scaramanga.

Conduit 2 had my favorite multiplayer, but red steel 2 was my favorite single player. I really like the shootem to stunem slicem to killem strategy you could employ. However if i could only pick one shooter it would be goldeneye. It's solid in both areas. If metroid was up there i wouldn't pick it. It shined in so many ways, but i really wasn't a fan of the controls in it, and i'd say that's pretty important for a motion based shooter. I wish it would've came out after all the shooters started getting very customizable controls. Couldn't stand pointing all the way to the side of the screen to start turning. Loved everything else about the game though.

I do not think any of the games in the options are the best on the console.

Red Steel 2 and Metroid Prime 3 were better than any game on that list. Just because they offered more than a standard FPS, that does not remove the fact that they were.

Also, what of Red Steel 1, Far Cry Vengeance?

This is a very biased list.

Other - Metroid Prime 3

And I don't really care about the it's first person *adventure* nonsense, it's an FPS. You can try to call it whatever you want and it may not be a traditional FPS, but it's an FPS.
