You guys tend to be inconsistent.  I could bring up moderations where you all ban someone and then in a similar situation you all dont ban somebody else.  However that wont be the topic right now.  However we will talk about the illusive triple post.  For whatever reason this is to be considered spamming.  I disagree that its spamming as long as it is on topic and contributes to conversation. In fact ive seen the rule bent very often incluiding Starcraft while he has been a mod.  However ive seen mods, or mod, (not sure which) get kind of testy with this sometimes.

Anyways here is an example http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6590404

Slade gets moderated

Here Prof doesnt get moderated even though i know for a fact that it was brought to ConeG's attention http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=187834&page=150

As ive said before ive seen this happen often actually, and if i really wanted to, which im not even going to waste my time on so dont ask, i could find other examples including Starcraft commenting three times in a row.  In fact ive done it on numerous occasions and im not ashamed to say that.

Now i get that there is a base to base issue with some moderations but this rule seems pretty to the point.  All im asking is to use some common sense.  If people are contributing to the conversation then get off your high horse and dont moderate them

However if it is actually spam which usually consists of one word posts, pictures, or nothing to do with the topic then moderate them.

It's not a rule I agree with, actually. But it's one I've been moderated for a few times myself so I try to ensure that it's a rule which is enforced equally.

As for the Slade incident, as you said we've discussed it already so no more needs to be said on that. The Mafia thread, however, is something a bit different. It was brought up earlier in the thread and it was said there that not all the rules don't apply the same way, hence the lack of moderation in that case. Indeed, Star and I (at the very least, he even banned himself over this issue) have moderated people over this rule before in that thread, and others, so it is being moderated in a uniform fashion to my knowledge.

Perhaps it is something which needs reviewing, however. The definition of spam is a tough one, however, and if you could post everything in the one post (say, several replies in a row) then, yeah, it should be done in one post. That's just my opinion however, in some occasions (from you, for example, where you're posting news) it's more acceptable. All down to context, and perhaps on this occasion it was a bit extreme. As I said, I've already discussed this with Slade however.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Completely disagree.  Its all a common sense thing and the Mafia Thread really isnt any different than XBE.  But you all do whatever you all want.

The problem with replying to several people in one post is that only the first user you quoted will actually be notified of the quote, while the others wont know, unless they randomly decides to read every post in a random thread. This was proved in your birthday thread.

I think we did well during what was a surprisingly stressful Gamescom!

Though there were about 50 bans in the last 48 hours...

Let me guess, at least 20 of them were Weazel alts

Hah! That's exactly what I did one time! Of course, not everyone is going to think about doing that!

I'll just add that after I posted the second post I did wait an hour to post the third. I've seen a lot of users post three times in a row, so I didn't think too much of it during the time. To me spam is considered useless conversation that adds nothing to the actual discussion, I feel I wasn't spamming, by that logic. However by the rules, I guess I did. I was just more annoyed on the lack of consistency. In all honestly there should be more leeway with posting and it should be down to a judgement call. I'm not trying to call anyone out, I would just like more consistency is all. Plus, if you think it's a bad rule, just don't follow it; progressive moderating.

I agree with you.

Context is key when it comes to spam. There is a fine line and I think that staying hard on the rule of "multiple posts is spam!" is honestly silly.

This is a good point. When a thread has a lot of unread posts I usually just skip to the latest one unless I know I've been quoted somewhere then I just use CTRL+F on each page.

Can't CTRL + F on my phone .

Side note: I just realised you don't get quote notifications from sticky threads.

This seems like a great time to bring up one of my biggest pet peeves on this site, the kaizar thread!

http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=173039&page=1

not only is it like 90% kaizar posts, but he posts sometimes like 50 times in a row before somebody comments. His posts are generally just sad excuses for bumps. He also constantly spams peoples walls to bring in traffic to his thread.

Now, i know i have reported it for spam several times, so how in the world is it possible that slades three posts in a row is spam, and the kaizar thread is not?
