I know this might be a shock for you to hear Cone but people know that moderators have the abillity to ban people. Unless it's a brand new user but they're usually a flamingweazel alt so it doesn't matter. A "preventative measure" sound a lot like what's happening in Ferguson right now. With an army rolling in and terrorizing people because they might do something bad. If a thread gets out of hand then feel free to step in and wave the hammer around. I've been banned multiple times for that and haven't complained because it was my fault. Now I looked through the convo in the Xbox thread and I didn't see anybody breaking any rules, well until endimion called shinobi a retard but I believe that was after you and starcraft felt the need to pointlessly warn people. 

Endimion didn't call Shinobi a retard. He called Angry Joe a retard. 

I think the problem with it is that the muscle is flexed before anyone actually breaks a rule.

I think the best way to go about it would be moderating followed by the post in the thread to tell people to chill. Even if a discussion is heated it can still end well. We shouldnt try cutting out sny heated stuff.

I agree with you, but I didn't say anything in that thread until there was a moderation. I'm not going to say something until someone is banned or moderated; or conversely has made a comment which is ban worthy and to cut it out before it continues. 

I'm not going to intervene if someone might break the rule. If you check through the posts I do like this (unsure of others) there will nearly always be a moderation in the argument beforehand. Not always, there's some extreme cases but near enough. At this point and this point only is it worth intervening, so we don't end up with everyone in the argument banned.

Yeah it was harsh. But rules on pornography are very strict on this site as you likely could have guessed. Just ask Jizz_Beard or Lemonslice or Baloosfool for example!

-Endimion implied Shinobi was a retard. He got banned.

-I asked a day ahead of time to drop the subject. It was going in a bad way and shinobi couldnt handle the fact people werent agreeing with him implying his opinion was the only right one. it was a pointless argument that was not needed.

-Shinobi comes back a day later demanding an answer again. I asked him again to drop it

-ConeG steps in and also says it should be dropped

-Shinobi complains saying he feels gagged an insulted even though the user that had insulted him got banned in the first place. Not to mention Shinobi was disrespectful to both me and another user with a sarcastic attitude "Aye ay sir" "thanks for your unbiased opinion" etc. People arent dumb, they can see its sarcastic. none the less im not excusing anybody else's behavior either

- Not to mention Starcraft never warned anybody about the discussion, rather he warned people about quotetrees which included Shinobi and one other user unless i missed something

-Nobody ganged up on him. Me and only me asked for it to be dropped. Others just disagreed with him, not a big deal, get over it and move on with your life.

-His permaban was a massive over-reaction because he was told to drop something. If there is more reasons he asked to be banned i am unaware of it. But as for what happened that i know about, he over-reacted majorly 

It was all over the same thing in fairness. Lemon and Jizz posted pornographic images and Baloosfool inadvertedly linked to pornographic images. Unfortunate really
