The problem with Sony's TV business is that they have the same quality TV's as Samsung, yet they cost twice as much

My prediction threads:
Wii U will sell under 40m units (made on 14th September 2012)
PS Vita will sell under 20m units (made on 30th September 2012)
Wii U will sell under 7m in 2013 - I was right
By the time I have the money to pay for this...well I'll probably be dead

Love it, keep em coming so the price can start to go down.
The 84" LG one is 22k, only available in Korea atm, September estimate for Europa and NA

Why so big? Easier to make it bigger at that pixel density then cram it into a 50" panel, look at it as 4 42" 1080p panels seamlessly glued together. Plus the wow factor of course. If you're going to pay over 20k you want something to show for it.
It should be affordable in 5 years, couple more years to get to the level 1080p tvs are at now. (The first 1080p tvs started in 2005)
Sharp upstages everyone with this 85" 7860x4320 monster.

We can only see a difference with 4k resolution on a HUGE tv like this, but average size tvs like 32-40 inch we wont see 4k, so how is this going to work? Do they have something up their sleeves?

It just depends on how far away you sit. THX standard for movies wants you to sit at 1.2 x diagonal screen size, so you get a 40 degree viewing angle. At that ratio you can definitely see a big difference between 1080p and 4K.
Size doesn't matter, only the amount of pixels per degree of your field of vision. Or what would be the point of this:

32" 4K displays will be used as computer monitors

Your right, Sonys T.V's are a much better quality. I've owned two Samsung and the both popped. One in warranty and the other out. While it was nice they fixed it, I had to wait 3 weeks. For a tv that was less than 6 months old. While my 4 year old Sony is still running strong. I'd rather pay a little more for a Sony and never have to worry about it. I'm done with Samsung even my 4g wifi router had to be replace, now on the second and it's bloated from the battery over heating and drops signal constantly. Maybe Samsung phones are good but that would be about it.
