Why so big? Easier to make it bigger at that pixel density then cram it into a 50" panel, look at it as 4 42" 1080p panels seamlessly glued together. Plus the wow factor of course. If you're going to pay over 20k you want something to show for it.

It should be affordable in 5 years, couple more years to get to the level 1080p tvs are at now. (The first 1080p tvs started in 2005)
