Good Wi-Fi is actually very fast.   Try pinging your router.

If you are not sure how, simply do the following:

1. Type Windows + R.

2. Type CMD and hit enter.

3. Type IPCONFIG and hit enter.

4. Find the default gateway in the first set of numbers and copy the IP address.

5. Type Ping "add the ip address".

6. Look for the response time.

 

My rountrip response time is just 3 ms.

min: 0ms, max: 1ms, avg: 0ms



Killzone on the PS3 has got  4 years of latency time between the button press and the TV display results, and nobody noticed it.

116 ms, IN FAVOR of the gamepad is nothing to worry about.

Until somebody does a comparison against a lagless CRT we won't be sure of anything.

The video only proves that this TV sucks at gaming, 116 ms is a lot.

And a video like this doesn't show much time passes since I press a button and it's registered.

This is TV lag and is irrelevent to the console being played as it affects all consoles equally.  If it's not been a major issue so far this generation (where early LCD TV's had major lag) then it certainly isn't going to be a problem on next generation with most TV's having an improved display time.

Because it seems no one has yet addressed my concerns from the previous page. Admittedly 7 frames or 116 ms of lag is not uncommon in console gaming and something you could get used to, but isn't the real issue here the fact that there is a perceivable difference between playing on the TV and playing on the tablet alone?

For example, I'm playing a relatively time-sensetive game like a fighter or a music/rhythm game on the TV and want to switch over to the tablet so my family can watch a movie. Now I'm playing a game with a significantly different response time. For games like the ones I mentioned, it wouldn't just mean a few minutes of adjustment on my part, it could completely change the experience, as the example from Rocksmith in this thread has shown.

Another example is multiplayer. Say I'm playing a competitive game with one player on the Wii U pad and the second with a classic controller on the TV. We both press the same button at the same time, yet one of us performs the action 116 ms before the other, which means they also see the result of that action sooner and so forth. In online multiplayer as far as I know this issue is dealt with by having the server establish a common time base between all players, and we all know about the troubles this can cause with persistency of hit detection and so on...

really old, but I will say what I said last time.

It really is appalling how much lag modern TVs have when not in game mode, and even then it's higher than it should be.

Did you see it on vgchartz and comment here or was this unearthed in other forums sooner?

Anyway, do all TVs have game mode and would it help alot? I'm not familiar with these specs.

First off, 116 ms of TV lag is larger than normal these days.

Secondly, a simple calibration option could sync the tablet to the TV by adding a X ms delay to the tablet.  

Third, a 109 ms advantage isn't as big as you think it is.   You'd get far more variance than that just from your Internet connections.  109 ms is 1/4th the blink of an eye.  So unless you can make like Hannibal lector and never, ever, blink, a 109 ms advantage isn't very perceptable.

I bet if those videos were played full speed we'd never notice the lag difference.   Especially if no one had previously told us a lag difference even existed.
