If the PS3 only cost $399 and included the Playstation Eye and Playstation Move it would have bankrupted Sony or the system would have only been modestly more powerful than the Wii.

It depends, according to most developers the PS3 was a hell to develop at the beginning, so the number needed to be insanely big to encourage devs to made all their games for the platform, and only if the Move had been released before the Wii it would have sold a heck of a lot more

Had it been a simpler console (no cell processor), with better ram and so had it been easier to develop for, and a had it been sold at a more affordable pricepoint (299US dollars), it would have challenged the xbox in the US, even 1 year late.

But then it would have been a whole different console.

The PS3 wouldn't have outsold the Wii at that price, but it definitely would've blasted past the 360 if its initial sales were based on that launch price.

MS would not have gone out of gaming because the 360 appeals to certain gamers and they would keep it alive - for example, you cannot find Halo or Gears of War on the PS3 and COD is more popular on the 360 as well.

They would have possibly put themselves out of business by selling their machine at that much of a loss.

A 400$ PS3 at launch? WITH Move integration at the height of Wii's popularity? It would have been massive. Easy 100$ million sales by now, probably would have outsold the PS2 eventually.

I like my PS3 as it is. Its just unfortunate Sony had to lose money to bring me such a brilliant console. But hey, its not my fault that Sony couldn't affectively run the PlayStation business at the start of the gen.

I voted how the PS3 is now. I wouldnt want a gimped PS3 that sells 200 million.

EDIT; I think the PS3 would have been the no1 selling console if it did that though. It would have taken a lot of sales from the 360 and kept most of its exclusives wrather than them going multiplat. The Wii would have sold less aswell, but i couldnt imagine it being much much more les. maybe like 15-20 million less
