If Sony made a sub $399 PS3 at launch- would it have outsold the PS2 and force MS out of gaming?

I like my PS3 as it is. Its just unfortunate Sony had to lose money to bring me such a brilliant console. But hey, its not my fault that Sony couldn't affectively run the PlayStation business at the start of the gen.

I voted how the PS3 is now. I wouldnt want a gimped PS3 that sells 200 million.

 

EDIT; I think the PS3 would have been the no1 selling console if it did that though. It would have taken a lot of sales from the 360 and kept most of its exclusives wrather than them going multiplat. The Wii would have sold less aswell, but i couldnt imagine it being much much more les. maybe like 15-20 million less
