If Sony made a sub $399 PS3 at launch- would it have outsold the PS2 and force MS out of gaming?

It depends, according to most developers the PS3 was a hell to develop at the beginning, so the number needed to be insanely big to encourage devs to made all their games for the platform, and only if the Move had been released before the Wii it would have sold a heck of a lot more
