Forums - Nintendo - Wii U specs are surprising, says Sonic developer, specifically the GPU and memory

Being that you were posting in the other thread it is clear that you know that this was because Ubisoft hadn't implemented certain graphical features in the Wii U version because they ran out of time; not because the system could not handle those effects.

1. According to you then the first uncharted was a good representation of the PS3 power instead of uncharted 3. You are using launch games to judge the WiiU, which is obviously flawed.

2. I bet before the Wii you weren't saying this, but with hindsight you wanna praise the Wii. What would you know of innovation? I could careless of what you see as innovation. You probably thought the Vita was innovative?

1. the first PS3 games looked much better than the latest PS2 games. The first PS2 games looked much better than the latest PS1 games. The first WiiU games look just as good as the latest PS3 games, in some cases not even that.

2. I was a rather casual gamer back when this gen launched and I was indeed pretty interested in the Wii. The Vita does nothing really innovative, but its way more powerful than last gen portables and that way it does provide or at least has the potential to offer a better gaming experience than PSP/DS.

The WiiU though lacks both innovation and a big technology leap. Therefore it fails to attract me and as you see many other gamers. (at this point, wont say never)

Correction. The first Wii U games look WAY better than the latest PS3 games. The ports all look better. The Exslusives look even better than the ports.

Yeah, the WiiU version is said to be missing some of the lighting and particle effects due to limited dev time, according to the lead game designer.  That sucks.

However, Satterfield from GT said the WiiU version of the game looked the best to him...

Maybe it has its strengths and weaknesses compared to the other versions?  Who knows...

archbrix, looking at your avatar and sig, it´s obvious the next Bioshock is one of your most anticipated games, so I ask you..wasn´t there a recent story/rumor about the game also releasing on Wii U?...is it confirmed?..was it just a rumor?

Yes there was, but word has it that it may have been a fake rumor.  :(

I still say a little prayer every once and a while that it comes true, though...  :P

outside of the fact that I think shane is an utter tool....isn't he the guy who thought COD as one of (or was it the best) looking game of the year last year? I would not put any money on his word on anything of this nature

Don't know; I hadn't heard that, but he may have.

One thing I will say about the COD games is that they run very smooth visually.  They may not have the most detail, but they also don't seem to have a lot of the shimmering and twinkling flaws in the graphics during motion that you see in many other games.  Sorry to go off topic.

This whole situation too for me also highlights Nintendo's desperate lack of internal development groups that want to or are allowed to create big, epic visual type games.

With the GameCube or N64 this was never really much of an issue. You could take one look at Factor 5's Rogue Squadron II or Rare's GoldenEye and see something that was really pushing the hardware.

Retro is OK, but they're only capable of like 1 game every 2-3 years at best. Rare would pump out 3-4 games in one year some times. I mean heck even with the 3DS, you could see with Resident Evil Revelations/Mercenaries that the system is clearly a decent amount more capable than a PSP.

On Wii U there's nothing like that and dev kits have been out there for like 18 months now.

nah he wasn't talking about performence...he was talking about the best looking game of the year. I will try and find the quote but I remembered it because it came up in neogaf on this very same topic

These posts only read and get excited but dont take anything to heart. Negative post and the haters jump all over and positive posts the fans jump all over.
Wait till Facts are released from Nintendo. Or better yet when we have the Wii U.

After this thread I am officially going to stop posting in threads about Wii U's power. I will let Nintendo and the system+games speak for themselves when it comes out. In retrospect, this all seems so incredibly pointless to me.

Arrivederci!
