Forums - Sony - Do we really need or want the PS4?

Yep..  I'm more of a Nintnedo fan and will definetely be purchasing a Wiiu for first party games but I am definetely ready for a massive leap in Graphics and will only be able to get that from Sony or Microsoft. I think that Nintendo will mostly be fine with the Wiiu graphics since we haven't seen their games with great hd graphics yet so they should be good for 4 years or so untill we get bored of their games at that graphic level but Sony will need to come out with a new console as I'll stop playing my ps3 for the most part once Wiiu comes out.

I think they need to make a new console. Most people haven't noticed but the PS3 is really showing its age, and rightfully so. It has been on the market for six years and was a very powerful gaming machine for at 4 of them probably. But for example, battlefield 3 is on about low setting in 704p at 30 frames per second. But for $550 computer, get a computer that plays it on high settings at 1050p at about 44 frames per second.

I am so disappointed in all of you for not posting this yet... what a tainted thread. Consider this thread CLEANSED.

No i am fine for 2-3 years.

I love my ps3 but I wouldnt mind an upgrade. I mean the only issue with ps3 is loading and the occasional freezing. Like if Im in a game like resistance 3 for example. If someone messages me and I try to message them back my ps3 messaging board slows to a crawl if the action is intense. It does not happen all the time but if they could make the ps4 load faster and stop the slowing down when im in multiplayer cool.Otherwise I am content with my ps3 its the best console I ever owned.

New consoles bring more than pretty graphics... they come with new concepts, new franchises, new gameplay, new possibilities etc. I welcome the new generation, bring it on!

I'll be ready holiday 2013..hint hint

I don't need the PS4 yet. I am more than happy with my PS3 for the next couple of years.  Then again, I spend about 70% of my time on PS3 and about 30% of my time on PS1/2/Gamecube/Wii games.  So there's plenty of choice for me, I don't necessarily need hardware-pushing experiences.

I think Sony need the PS4 next year though. They don't want to be more than a year behind the Wii-U and they don't want to be any amount of time behind the next Xbox, really.

I don't want a PS4 until I finish my backlog.

Still a lot of games to finish, so I'm okay holding out for at least another 2 years, but by that stage I will want something more powerful and the host of exciting new IP's that come with a new generation.
