He'll likely make back any money Nintendo lost with Other M with Game & Wario.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

That's not going to help Metroid's damaged image.

The point is that he's far more valuable to Nintendo not doing Metroid at all, a relationship i imagine most would find quite agreeable.

I knew it would pay off to buy that special artist's rendition of the LoZ overworld map and hang it above my computer! I love this baby: http://mudron.bigcartel.com/product/map-of-hyrule

lol apart from the nice map, what'd you think about what I wrote? Am I right? The magic just wasn't in that game, no?

I agree with you on every single point (and I appreciate the mature approach you took to this) except for one: Isolation. I felt very genuinely creeped out by the game, especially near the end when the power gets all messed up and monsters are roaming ALL over the place. Scared the crap out of me because I never knew what was going to pop up and they were rather powerful monsters. I also got the vibe of "abandoned, malfunctioning space ship with creepy ass monsters hiding everywhere" and it worked well on me.
I will admit to the fact that I could only play 20 minutes of Dead Space before I had to put it down and never pick it up again (due to the fact that I get freaked out too easily) so we likely come from completely different angles on that.
Also I have no idea why I get so scared of creepy atmospheres in games. I can handle movies just fine. I think I just put myself in the protagonist's shoes too much and immerse myself into that helpless feeling.

My gut reaction is to stand in front of Metroid's mangled corpse and defend it with my bare fists from ever being molested by Team Ninja again, but then I remember; wasn't it actually Nintendo/Sakamoto that ere largely responsible for Other M's shittiness? (Namely the story and bad gameplay choices like the control scheme and pixel hunting segments)

I agree that for me, they came very close to it, and I felt that upon finishing the game I probably was under the influence of the recency effect, ie; the last quarter of the game was indeed very good at holding the atmosphere with everyone gone, the captain under attack, monsters creeping through the vents, etc.
When I finished the game, I was on here arguing that it was quite good. However, I guess it has taken some time for me to notice that there were parts I really would not want to play through again. The open field area, most of the beginning, the lava platform section, etc.
Have you tried Slender Man, by any chance?

No. Just please No. Retro should be able to make as many Metroid games as they want - but not Team Ninja.

Games can and should tell stories and share ideas through their mechanics. This is the intrinsic element of the medium and this is how experiences should be crafted in video games. No company does this as well as Nintendo and their echoes from the past.
