I didn't say the devs were the problem.

The Playstation fanboys admit that it's a ripoff, but that doesn't mean it can't be a good game.  On the other hand, the Nintendo fanboys are bashing it because it's a Sony game.  All the other Smash Bros ripoffs everyone is fine with, regardless of quality, but now that Nintendo's competitor is making a ripoff, let's bash them because there's the high probability that it's going to be better.

The Super Smash series is good, there's  a high probability that this will be good.  If you're not a fan of Sony, then why not just avoid the game.  It's not like other people buying this game affect you in any way.  Like someone else said.  If this turns out to be better, it only benefits both the Sony fans and Nintendo fans, because competition fuels innovation and creativity.

Im a gaming fan, not a nintendo or sony fan, just like gaming in general. but this really bugs me. sony especially, they seem to just rip off everyone elses ideas without bringing anything original to the table.

although im sure nintendo have ripped off other peoples ideas too. id like to know if instances of that, i havent heard of any, but im sure they must have, as they all do it.

You don't have to be a fanboy to dislike a company.   I own every portable since the Gameboy released by Nintendo and most consoles, but I'm anti Nintendo.  I don't mind if Nintendo comes out with a ripoff of a Sony franchise.  If it's good I'll play it.

Sony ripped off Nintendo.  Microsoft ripped off Nintendo.  Guess what.  Just about everything is going to be a ripoff, because there's almost nothing out there that hasn't been done before.  I don't know what brand of toothpaste was the very first, but I guarantee my preferred toothpaste is a ripoff.  The Snuggie is a ripoff of the poncho(somewhat ripoff, somewhat redesign.)  Final Fantasy is a ripoff of Dragon Quest, which is a ripoff of D&D, which ripped off bards who sang about people who killed dragons, who ripped off people who really did go and slay dragons(okay, so those last few aren't really ripoffs, but they're likenesses.)

Does it really matter who ripped off who?  I'm a Mechwarrior fan, but I'm also a Armored Core fan despite the series being a ripoff.  I'm a Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy fan, although the Wild ARMs series is better than both in my opinion.  I'm a Metroid and Castlevania fan, even the exploration Castlevania games which people like to call Metroidvania(much to my dislike.)  I'm a Twisted Metal fan and I like Rogue Trip.  This could go on.  But last one.  I like 3D Dot Game Heroes better than I like any Zelda.

I like everything about this post except the first statement.

Some fans may admit it, but others are in denial and it's annoying. How much explaining do you have to do for someone to realize the obvious? What could be blocking their judgement? Imho partisanry. I'm not saying the Nintendo fans are free from it, your post denounces their behavior, but the Nintendo behavior is much more difficult to call out so kudos on you for finding an explanation. The Playstation one is blatant denial and that's really what I hate.

Again, I'm not saying all the PS fans are in denial, only a small minority, and they are the same ones to bash Nintendo at their first chance. Go figure it all comes from the same place.

Here's an interesting question. Why didn't they make Little Big Planet Fighting and give each character some unique moves? Or create their own character roster. Almost every aspect of this game is smash, bar a few game machanics here and there (health-ratio knockback, dashing).

Shouldn't this be on the Nintendo forum? After all it is for Nintendo fans to come and bitch about Sony.

Haven't you noticed the people posting? This isn't about Nintendo fans bitching about Sony; this is about Sony fans bitching about Nintendo fans bitching about Sony, to use your words, :P.

On topic, it is a rip-off. Simply because there's exactly two things that identify SSB, the fact that it's a 2D fighting game and that it has Nintendo's best characters in it. As awesome as the gameplay is, SSB would still be similarly huge, even if everything else other than the two things I mentioned was changed.

And you know what two things Sony has made clear about this game just by the title? Hint: Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale

It's about big Playstation characters and fighting. Does that sound similar?

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with being inspired by a game, but when you're pretty much taking the most important aspects of a game series and making your own game with it, I'm afraid that qualifies as a rip-off and gives people the right to complain, if nothing else.

You know what game I wish would get ripped off more? Pokemon. Someone should make a Indy Pokemon type game for PC. That would rule.

Funny that you say that, but there's a free iOS game that's a Pokemon ripoff, but there isn't 50 million threads about that game being a ripoff.  Shin Megami Tensei is the original monster taming game, but you know Nintendo fans.  Everything Nintendo does has got to be first.  Nintendo fanboys should be more like Microsoft and Sony fanboys who don't argue about what games are copied and just play games to have fun.  Sony and Microsoft fanboys just argue which console has the best graphics :P using games like Uncharted or bad ports like Bayonetta as justification for their arguments.

Here's a video to the iOS game though.  It's called Little Masters.

So whats the difference of him being pro sony and you saying I am anti?  (What I just said makes no sense at all  same goes for your comment)

Who said I am anti sony?  I am totally ANTI BLIND fans.  (you should try not to jump to conclusions my friend)

Just to help you realize that I'm not really anti-sony.

I'm anti Nintendo and yet I own every NIntendo handheld and console except for the Wii.  I can post a picture, but it won't change that.

The reason that noone cares about iphone Pokemon rip offs, Mole Kart, TMNT Smash Up, and so on, is because they're insignificant products.  There's no sense in getting worked up whenever some dude in China makes a rip off, but when one of the companies we count on to drive the industry forward does the same thing, it's a little more noteworthy.

And aside from both involving monster taming, Shin Megami and Smash share very little in terms of gameplay.  I'm not sure exactly which Shin Megami game introduced monster collecting, but the earliest I could think of was Devil Children which kind of ummmm... sucked...

and this is what its all about people :) nobody cares when a company copy's UNLESS its Sony you dont know anything that Nintendo copied because nobody in the media talks about it enough for a fan like you to know about it. It is almost impossible for a Sony fan to NOT know what Sony supposedly copied because EVERYBODY talks about and it gets blasted in the media.

It definitely matters more when it is a main competitor, of course. Why wouldn't it though. If some random stranger somewhere you have no idea about copies an idea of your in a market that doesn't affect yours in any way, but then say your brother comes along and makes something almost cookie cutter yours and attempts to take some of your market, isn't that worse? I would say so.

Regardless as I said there are pros and cons to this, all I'm asking for is cut the denial crap guys.

What exactly do you want Nintendo to do about it, sue them? That's not how the justice system works. And I wouldn't say it's a shameless ripoff, the gameplay mechanics are fairly different. Brawl was a party game, while PAS is geared for a more competitive audience. Some hardcore fighting game fan who like the style of Smash but wish it was more suitable to competitive fighting would cal PAS an evolution not ripoff.

Yes. So, by definition, party game means shovelware. SSB is a shovelware.

I disagree, you can get some great party games.
