I'd believe it, because of people like me. Out of the 14 N64 games I own, 11 are 1st/2nd party Nintendo. Of the 6 GC games I own, 5 are 1st party Nintendo. Of the 4 Wii games I own, all are 1st party Nintendo.

yeah for people like you or me it may matter but as I think it was Bod stated, for casuals 1st or 3rd party makes no difference as they usually don't know the difference. All that matters is a quality title and advertising/word of mouth getting PR out there.
| Zucas said: My big diff with people who say this is let's look at a few things. Nintendo has made nothing but quality games. All titles are playable on the Wii, solid titles, and are marketed correctly. |
mario party 8 and strikers are both pretty mediocre at best. that is not to steal the thunder from the great games like galaxy and zelda but to say they've made nothing but quality games is BS.
good 3rd party games and people buying these games are essential for a successful game system. i've yet to see that 3rd party games sell well on the wii (remakes/MP party games aside). i'm still wondering if the bulk of the wii userbase cares about anything other than nintendo games and multiplayer party games.
Demon's Souls Official Thread | Currently playing: Left 4 Dead 2, LittleBigPlanet 2, Magicka
I think Suda is talking largely about Japan here (which is the only market his game has launched in), and I actually think he has a point there.
Unlike America where we have multiple "hardcore" games not only performing well, but performing better than one might expect (RE4, RE:UC, Mario Galaxy, Zelda, Red Steel) and very few "hardcore" flops (Chocobo Dungeon, NMH, and others aren't out yet) while many of these same games performed under expectations (Red Steel isn't surprising, but Zelda is, and despite Mario Galaxy's resurgance, it's still only performing decently, not overperforming. Chocobo Dungeon, NMH, NiGHTs, and others have come out there and underperformed).
In short: I don't think the Wii has a "hardcore" problem in the US, but it does in Japan. However, I think this is largely because "hardcore" gaming in general is on the wane in Japan, and what little is left is largely interested in handhelds now.

Red Steel. RRR and RRR2. The Trauma Centre games. GH3. Mario & Sonic (though I can see why you may not count that one). Spider-man 3 sold fairly well, and Harry Potter sold better on Wii than either of its' competitors. Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution is doing well. The Budokai Tenkaichi games are popular, too. Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga outsold both competitors combined IIRC. Medal of Honour Heroes 2 is selling well. Even the Madden games, which traditionally haven't done well on Nintendo consoles, are selling well. Tiger Woods sells extremely well on Wii.
Yeah, so don't even go there.
Not EVERY quality TP game is selling well (Zack and Wiki is the biggest example), but the same is true of all consoles, of all generations. Think Lost Oddyssey, Beyond Good and Evil, Killer 7, for just a couple of examples.
Though I do agree that a lot of the Wii userbase only plays party games.

Donkey Kong Barrel Blast says hello.
The problem is, ask him to point out what console IS doing well for 3rd parties in Japan and he wouldn't be answer. While in Japan 3rd parties haven't done great on the wii, its done great in comparison to the 360 with its laughably small install base and the PS3 with sales which no way makes up for the huge budget needed for the games that does sell.
If he put NMH on the 360 or PS3, it would've done just as bad if not worse (see Killer7).
well, he can count on me buying the game. Maybe not the very first day, or wekk, but before the end of the first month.
Just the reality of the system, 3rd party games will be failures more often then not.
Nintendo Wii
Nintendo game
thats what sales.
Theres a reason Cod4 and Assassins Creed were PS3/360 and not on the wii, and surely don't expect their sequels to be on the wii either.
Wii Sports, Nintendo - 17.75 million
Mario & Sonic Olympics, Sega - 2.50
Resident Evil 4: Wii Edition, Capcom - 1.34
You expect 3rd partys to support the wii with such a big difference in sales ?
Question: How did Killer 7 do when ported to the PS2?
