Forums - Sony - 5 Reasons The PlayStation is Toast

I don't get why journalists are so fearful of Apple getting into the gaming biz. They're all about casual use: iPhone, iPad, iPod - they're all very simple to use. Hardcore games are by definition NOT easy to use/play! It's H-A-R-D C-O-R-E. they might make a casual console (like the Wii was/is) but they'd rely souly on 3rd party: no core gamer would abandon NinSonySoft for some fruit ninjas or angry birds console. That piece of shit really would be a piece of shit console.

Danne, did you miss the part where they were saying Konami, Capcom and Square were defecting to mobile devices for revenue?

That's not what I would call PoS-level developers.

FOR THE LAST F***** TIME!!! SONY'S NOT DOOMED!!!....they're just toast, warm, buttery toast...mmmmmmmm

I like toast.

4 ≈ One

Those are reasonable concerns and though people may deny it, the mobile gaming is slowly but surely eating at console gaming pie.
Apple is still a threat but I doubt they would step in the gaming field anytime soon since the loss of Steve Jobs. I think Apple will continue to focus more on what they knows best first before expanding onto any other divisions.

Still, Sony is a resilient company. They do need to turn their focus on the gaming division.

Well, the 'Playstation' is not doomed. Sony has other divisions that they can cut first before they would the gaming division.

Oh god I thought this was a serious thread. Luckily I saw key words such as PlayStation 3 being used to play "DVDs" and gamers not wanting to buy new consoles since the 360/ps3 play their favorite games such as "Fruit Ninja".

You almost had me. =)

He was talking about the casual, not the hardcore

Nintendo and PC gamer

i'm not sure i agree with his arguments but the point is probably valid enough. sony is really close to collapsing.

Ya right this article is ridiculous sony as a corporation has alot of assets. There number one business is PSN it is a cash cow for them. Why in the hell would they aquire Gakai or whatever its called for cloud gaming if there hurting so bad. Again Sony is a huge corporation with alot of reserve assets and cash. Im not saying the Vita not doing well is hurting them right now. Remember they have made alot of money off of PS2 sales which is still selling well in 3rd world markets.PSP has also done well. PS3 will sell like hotcakes when the new slim comes out. Remember Sony is global not just United states. There entrenched worldwide people tend to forget that. Also Vita means "life" in code. PS4 codename "Orbis" means circle. Hence" Circle of life". Sony has big plans for PS4 it is how they deliver and what they deliver that will count.

Sony is burdened with a fair bit of debt, and their bonds are junk-rated. Their financial turmoil is unescapable, and is a problem bigger than the PS brand's success could solve.

And if I remember correctly they've been warned that their credit/loan grade (or what ever it's called) might get lowered - which means that they will get a harder time loaning money.

I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!

Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
