lol forget about the loss sony made! a console that released in 2000 is nearly outselling current gen consoles. i can see why alot are just blabbing on about sony's billions of losses.

In a previous thread, the OP poster cited an article about the lack of availability of Wii consoles. While some of the information was dated (not the OP poster's fault) and thus no longer accurate, it does appear that one reason for Sony's feat this quarter in that Nintendo sales are slowing and the supply chain is being emptied out in anticipation of (a) the WiiU and (b) a possible Wii price cut.

In other words, Sony's win appears to have come partially by default.

Interesting fact I just uncovered: The PS2 and PS3 combined have sold more than the Wii, Gamecube, Xbox 360, and Xbox combined by 9.08 million units.

Here's my math:

PS2 - 153.68
PS3 - 65.62
= 219.30 million

Wii - 96.37
Gcn - 21.74
= 118.11 million

360 - 67.46

= 92.11 million
