In a previous thread, the OP poster cited an article about the lack of availability of Wii consoles. While some of the information was dated (not the OP poster's fault) and thus no longer accurate, it does appear that one reason for Sony's feat this quarter in that Nintendo sales are slowing and the supply chain is being emptied out in anticipation of (a) the WiiU and (b) a possible Wii price cut.

In other words, Sony's win appears to have come partially by default.
