Just chiming in to say the game is awesome!
But too easy so far.
I'm only into world 3 and have already over 100 lives. :P
Collecting coins is a lot of fun.

Manuel! Have not seen you much since the Mafia game where you were drunk.

So basically there is no possible way of losing. How are all the levels? That is where Mario gets its challenge. Precision Jumping, speed running, flying, etc. Any tricky areas yet?

Yeah, I've cut back on internet activity a bit. Especially now that it's unbearably hot here.

As for Mario, there's no possible way of getting a game over. :P There are so many 1UP mushrooms scattered around in addition to the lives you get for coins... I haven't encountered a tricky area yet. Sometimes it's  a bit tricky to get all 3 coins and find the secret exits, but basically it's a breeze.

I'm not complaining, though. It's super fun!

Reviews are quite poor so far. Im a bit dissapointed.

Lowest scoring mainstream Mario title ever??

I hope NSMB U is better

I recommend to play it before you're disappointed.
It may not be the most unique title, but it's a lot of fun.

Naturally. Nintendo 'should' be making more 3D Mario games in the eyes of many of these reviewers.

Man, you guys got to listen to the new music! It's so good! So far, there are only three, there could be more. But, the last one I've heard is so good I think it's one of my favorite Mario songs!

I totally called that NSMB2 will struggle to reach an 80 score. Not because it's bad, but because those so called neutral reviewing sites do anything but review games nowadays. It's all about generating clicks, likes, follows, thumbs up, whatever arbitrary bullshit you can generate in the internet. And what better way is there than to burn a high profile game to get some attention. The whole reviewing system is in the gutter. Giving people an informed oppinion on a game they might be interested in has wandered way down the list these last years. It's all about self marketing or you simply pay those assholes for good scores. I mean, read the fricken summaries on metacritic (but dont give them clicks please):

"At its core, New Super Mario Bros. 2 is a Mushroom Kingdom coin -- shiny and addictive, but carrying no practical value whatsoever."
What does that even mean, practical value? It's a fricken game, it's entertainment. Does the newest Batman movie teach you math or make you a better person? Open your beer bottle or cook you a meal?

"Mario's gold-themed adventure is anything but bad, but we can't shake away the deja vu and the word "inflation" whilst playing."
Inflation? We had 1 2D Mario in 2006, 1 in 2009 and now it so happens that Nintendo wants to get their 2D Marios out early in their new systems life cycle, so we have 2 in 2012. I can guaran-damn-ty you there will be no 2D Mario until at least 2015. It's still only 1 2D Mario game per system! How many Call of Dutys are there on the PS360? How many Halos does the 360 have? How many Uncharteds, God of Wars, Resistances on the PS3?

Good games are 70's now, "Perfect but no surprises" means 80/100 for Nintendo, but it's totally legit enough for Call of Duty to deserve a whopping 10/10. Fuck this shit, it's like they don't even try anymore to mask their agendas. I'm just waiting for the inevitable Giantbomb 6/10 now and the obscure 4/10 from a site I never heard about, that wants to get some more hits.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

Chandler is 100% right.
It's not an "innovative" game by any means. How much can you innovate in a game where you basically jump and run from left to right?
The main point is that it's a lot of fun. It's good entertainment. The controls are perfect as always.
So far it's my favorite game on the system.

Description
9
Presentation
It's hard to fault Nintendo on presentation - the animation and colourful visual style are as endearing as ever.
8
Graphics
The 3D doesn't work at all well, but other than that NSMB2 is good-looking.
8
Sound
You'll hear that coin chime a lot. Interestingly, there’s surprisingly little new music in New Super Mario Bros 2 – most of it is variations on the six-year-old NSMB theme.
9.5
Gameplay
Only the lack of novelty detracts from the perfection of this formula.
7
Lasting Appeal
A 5-6 hour single-player quest is extended significantly by Star Coins, secret-hunting and (to an extent) Coin Rush, but it’s still on the short side.
8.5
OVERALL
Great
(out of 10, not an average)

Closing Comments: It is impossible not to be drawn in by the simple perfection of New Super Mario Bros 2’s mechanics and level design – this is as pleasurable and effortless as 2D platforming gets. But it’s also impossible not to be disappointed that it’s over so quickly, and doesn’t offer anything really new. The best Mario games reinvent themselves at the same time as paying loving homage to what went before; they take something you know and love and make it feel new all over again. New Super Mario Bros doesn’t do that - but it’s a delightful game while it lasts, and still the best 2D platformer on the 3DS.

I spent a lot of time with the first one on the DS, so this rushed game is kind of disappointing. 5-6 hours? For a regular gamer like me that will still probably be 10 hours, but that is not enough at all. I think the coin idea is great, but I do not care to help my region win the coin total.
Also I am surprised that they even gave this game 3D. Maybe they had to so that the 3D would still be a good decision, but there seems to be no point. I hope it explodes in sales this Christmas!

This is a mistake the reviewer made. The itself is much longer and has more worlds, so I'm expecting it to be longer than NSMB DS. You can pretty much blow through both games, but to find every Star Coin and secret level, it's much longer. But, this is the thing that pisses me off. They gave NSMB DS a 9 on lasting appeal and this is what it says:

"If you just want to blow through the game from first castle to final battle, it's over in just a few hours. But there's so much more, including hidden levels and single cart multiplayer challenges."

But, yet, this review doesn't say that, but the game provides much more.

Gameplay perferction! That's music to my ears, really. No other game can claim this as much as Mario.

The only game that doesn't have a tutorial nowadays because everybody is born knowing how to play it!
