Forums - Sony - New PS3 models 16GB, 250GB, and 500GB plus rumored prices!

the 16gb ps3 might not be that bad if this model comes with the usual ability to upgrade your hdd, I've seen some pretty cheap HDD with like 320bg-500gb for about $50-$80..

I so called the $229 price. I would like some sort of praise from the Gamrconnect community.

No, you made a random guess like you and tons of other do every day, quickly forgetting when you are wrong, but bragging non stop and putting it in your signature when you happen to get it right. You're just like those amateur penny traders on Wall Street who claim to have 'a formula'. It's just dumb luck so get over it.

Actually sir, I suggest you re-assess your data. That was the first prediction I've made in months. I don't think its unreasonable to suggest a bit of glory for being spot-on with my only recent prediction. Also, all of my predictions before this one were spot-on as well. And this goes years back. There's a reason why people call me the 'Grand Psychic Jay'. You should see these VGC people and how they act towards me. People offer me praise all the time. (This one girl tried to show me her boobs via VGC, but I was like nah....not big enough). I don't let it get to me though. I made an oath to myself to stay humble. You don't realise how humble I am. In fact, think of all them humble people in the world and add up their humbleness. The resulting amount of humbleness would pale in comparison to my own humbleness. I mean, I don't mean to brag or anything like that. Like I always say, it ain't bragging if its the truth.

And the best reply to a post on VGC goes to Jay520! *oooh* *ahhhh**whistle*

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

I highly doubt their move bundle would be for the largest SKU, probably the 16gb. Since motion control gaming is more toward the casual crowd they want to keep their price down if they can, bundling with a cheaper SKU will do that. So you could get the 250gb PS3 for $200 or the 16gb PS3 with a move controller and sports champions 1 or 2 or both.

Just so you're aware, the Move bundle has always been, and currently is, for their largest SKU.  They're not going to price two SKUs the same and compete with themselves.  The prices need to be staggered, and they're not going to all of a sudden change that.

I see I was drastically mistaken. I guess that's no wonder why the Move hasn't gathered that much ground. They should really place that with a smaller SKU to increase accessibility. How exactly would pricing two PS3s the same compete with themselves? In the end aren't they buying a PS3? Also almost every bundle seems to go about that route. It's not a bad thing to offer a PS3 with a smaller harddrive but with move for the same price as one with a larger harddrive, it provides the consumer choice as opposed to bundling move at the top end.

If a 16GB PS3 exists it will be priced at $150.

like I said in another thread, if would make sense if the 16gb model was launched to push sony's recent acquirement of gaikai, and they decide to stream the majority of ps1/2/3 ip onto the console.. and push physical game sales with it..

This would be a good idea. Maybe if Galkai can be subscribed to alone, without PS+... Sony could bundle in a free 3 Month trial of the service with the 16GB model.

well it is Sony we're talking about so Gaikai would be subscribed to seperate of plus and be apart plus for free

$149, $199, $249

no I don't see it, not till PS4, these prices are just right, mass apeal with a nice profit margin, when they launch not annouce the ps4 the ps3 will be cut to $150 and be used to phase out the ps2, so some time in 2014

edit: but a 150 dollar PS3 would be MASSIVE

I'm surprised by the $179 price. I didn't think Sony would cut the price but if they were to, I thought they would go to $199 at.the lowest. The $179 price is nearly a $100 drop! Should be some nice numbers this year if true. I wonder how Microsoft will react.

I'm betting this holiday we'll see...

$99 Wii
$149 X360
$179 PS3
$279 to $299 WiiU

Microsoft won't cut the price IMHO. If they manage to sell 11m X360 next fiscal year without price cut they will earn much more money than sellning 13m after a 50$ price cut.

They're already losing marketshare... they couldn't justify not doing a price cut vs a PS3 model w/ Bluray, free online, AND 4x the storage.

Marketshare at this stage is pointless. The WiiU is coming out, MS and Sony consoles will come out next year, and the 360 has a solid market size that third parties will continue developing for it. So while Sony gets $30 to $50 profit per console sold, the 360 is probably making around $100-$150. Let's not forget Live is also bursting in profits. So who's making the smart decision here?

i don't believe it will be a 160gb version. i see no reason to sell a 160gb edition for 179 and only 90gb more for 230. and i think 16gb will be more than enough for some people. as example i have friends who only own consoles to play a little bit fifa and pes. there are a lot of people who buy consoles only for a few games. sure they also play other games then but they just don't care about dlcs, indie games and whatever.
