Only a 15% increase in userbase while the hardware increased 23.5% means fewer new Xbox gamers (relatively) are jumping in than before, or more cancelled subscriptions. Correct me if I am wrong.

i didn't check the numbers but i think this would be very plausible. people like me, purchasing a console on day one, are more likely to pay for xbox-live then people who buy a console in the seventh year or so. and yes, some people stop paying for it after a while because they simply don't play anymore or only much less. people who have an own family and a hard job now and bought the console when they were still in school or so. i expect ps+ subscribtion growing faster percentual than the sales numbers of the console but that is because many didn't see the reason to pay for that on ps3 until the last months for obvious reasons.
