Damn, seems Gamespy servers are down for emergency maintenance. This is not only for DayZ, but for all Arma's servers as well. Seems there's a way to directly connect to servers with the IP, but can't bother try hundreds of them to find a correct server :/

Back to Hard Reset then !

I managed to connect to a server this way. You have to launch six updater, you'll find no server, Launch anyway. Then in the Arma II start page, choose muliplayer, click on the remote beneath, then manually enter the server IP and port you want to go in (link to servers, browsable by region, in the linky )

When you start in the game (eg, when you first see your gun or hands at the moment you login), there should be an indication of Chernarus/ place where you are/Day number xxx.

Then look at one of those two maps : http://dayzmap.com/ for landmarks, or http://dayzmap.info/ for items.
It will give you information of where you are, with landmarks and so on.

Run for deerstands, barns for (relatively) easy loots.

Anyone online tomorrow? Would like to try playing with a group first as I haven't played yet. :)
